Belgian League: Dennis Targets 6th Goal in 15 matches for Brugge; Odey Looks to End Drought for Genk

Emmanuel Dennis has his mindset on netting his sixth goal in the Belgian First Division A for Club Brugge who welcome Zulte Waregem to the Jan Breydel Stadium today (Thursday), Completesports.com reports.

The Super Eagles attacker has so far found the net five times in 14 matches in the competition this season while he also has three goals in ten UEFA Champions League outings.

Club Brugge currently top the Belgian Pro League standings with 46 points from 19 matches, eight points clear of nearest rivals, Antwerp who have also played a game more.

Dennis has warned that despite Club Brugge’s eight-point lead, they have not yet been crowned champions.

“The season is still very long. We finish the year 2019 in first place. That is a good thing. But after the New Year, it really only starts and in the playoffs, everything can still happen,” Dennis cautioned in an interview with the Belgian media.

Fellow Nigerian, David Okereke on his own part will be looking to score his eighth goal of the season in 17 Belgian top-flight appearances for Club Brugge who he joined last summer.

Another Boxing Day Belgian Pro League encounter will see the Nigerian duo of forwards, Paul Onuachu and Steven Odey’s Genk play host to Eupen at the Luminus Arena.

Onuachu has netted six goals in 14 Belgian league outings for Genk while compatriot, Odey is still searching for his first top-flight goal after seven appearances.

Two other Nigerian players, Imoh Ezekiel and Abdul Ajagun who are also both attackers will be in action for Kortrijk who host Cercle Brugge at the Guldensporenstadion.

Ezekiel has two goals in nine league appearances for Kortrijk this season while compatriot, Ajagun has scored one goal and made two assists in 17 league outings.
