Rafael Benitez is hoping Newcastle United can rack up some valuable points over the next couple of weeks. The Magpies, who are two places and one point above the Premier League relegation zone, are coming towards the end of a warm weather training camp in Spain and the time away has allowed new signings Miguel Almiron and Antonio Barreca to gel with the squad.
Newcastle have a crucial run of fixtures coming up in their battle against the drop, with back-to-back home games against Huddersfield Town and Burnley followed by a trip to the London Stadium to take on West Ham United.
A trip to Spain worked wonders for the north-east outfit last year as they pulled away from the bottom three and Benitez is keeping his fingers crossed a similar run of form can be embarked on again. “If we can win some games like we did last year then that would be perfect,” he said.
“We have some massive games against Huddersfield, Burnley and West Ham coming up. We know that if we do well in these games we can win. “But at the end of the day we have to play to our level, we have to deal with the pressure then approach the games with the confidence we had last year.”
