Bernardo Absent For United Trip

Bernardo Absent For United Trip

Brighton will be without Bernardo when they take on Manchester United on Saturday while Yves Bissouma remains doubtful.

Both players were absent from the matchday squad when they played host to Liverpool last weekend, with left-back Bernardo still unavailable to boss Chris Hughton due to a hamstring injury.

Gaetan Bong filled in for Bernardo and could keep his place in the back four for the clash with resurgent United.

Bissouma missed out against the Reds due to a hip issue but has a chance of recovering in time to make the trip to Old Trafford.

Should the summer signing miss out, youngster Max Sanders could be handed a place on the bench.

Winger Jose Izquierdo is still on the sidelines due to a knee injury and is not expected back before the end of January.

United have won all six matches since replacing Jose Mourinho with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Hughton admits his team will be up against it to end their winning run on Saturday. “They have been playing very well,” said Hughton.

“The results speak for themselves. They have been able to win games and score goals and play really well. “Any manager coming in after Mourinho couldn’t have done any more. The results and performances indicate that.”
