Ghana Football Association (GFA) Technical Director, Bernhard Lippert, is hopeful that the Black Stars can bag a win in Abuja on Tuesday against the Super Eagles of Nigeria after seeing them play a ‘positive game’ in a goalless first leg at the Baba Yara Stadium Kumasi last Friday.
The winner over the two legs of the 2022 FIFA World Cup African qualifiers playoffs will join four other qualified nations to represent the continent at the Qatar 2022 tournament.
Lippert lauds the performance of the Black Stars in the first leg and says that performance has given him and fellow Ghanaians a lot of hope that the team can beat the home side at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium Abuja.
“I saw a positive game from the team, it was one of the best games in the last year,” Lippert told Akoma FM.

“There’s a lot of passion, finally,. We couldn’t score, but it gives us a lot of hope that we can beat Nigeria on Tuesday.
“We knew before that it was a 50-50 playoff match, so we have chances like them. The venue does not mean anything, we are almost at the same level.
“I think if we show the same passion, why not, I’m very confident that we can qualify.”
The Super Eagles are looking to qualify for their seventh FIFA World Cup appearance, while the Ghana’s Black Stars are aiming to secure their fourth berth.

Talk is cheap we wait and see. Meanwhile you played at home and its expected they will show up but playing away is a different ball game all the foul play the referee ignored will be punished in Abuja besides we will not play the same formation where you dominated the midfield this time is fight to finish. I see us blowing you people away in the first half. We are winning this one. Watch this space. Eagles go and conquer
You just dey paraaaaa we go change formation, you don open our yash. Cerezo no technical oooo
See the way Ghanaians are still praising their team inspite playing a goalless draw at their backyard. They are able to pick the positives but compare it with the way Nigerians have been running down their coaches who went to the den of lion and came out unscathed.
I have read a number of criticism like ‘tactical naivety, one dimensional coach etc, inspite the fact that his changes was impactful on the team general performance yet these arm chair coaches keep pressing the self destruct button when they need every encouragement to excel.
If it was Nigeria in Ghanaians shoes now they would not have seen any positives in the match which is a shame indeed, we must reflect on our PHD, PULL HIM DOWN SYNDROME after Tuesday match.
You are absolutely correct. I don’t know when drawing at away under a hostile environment is a crime. We have the worst football supporters all over the world. During life stream nothing you will not see all manner of abuses even osimheh is now a bad player, moses they sang his praises two months ago is now a useless player. We really need to learn how to support our teams. This is disheartening. We are fair-weather supporters.

My Brother it’s quite disappointing and disheartening reading the type of comments over here from some Nigerians even on Tv Stations and Radio Show programme hhhhhmm.
This is a World Cup qualifiers Play off , Home and away fixtures against an opposition that always play against us with deep disdainful treatment on and off field yet we come back with a draw result that gives us a breathtaking chance to plan well and execute our chances at home ground and win the match with our supporters behind our Team but all am seeing here since last week has been pull him down syndrome comments its really a shame to say the least. Soaring high Super Eagles victory is ours tomorrow Iseeee iseeee iseeee iseeee Yagazie.
My brother this is not a PHD syndrome but simply stating the facts. SE lethargic play made Ghana to look a bit decent on Friday. And this was completely down to Eguavoen’s wayward tactics and poor understanding of your players’ strength and abilities.
For instance, Chukwueze started on the left wing while Moses played the right wing in the 1st 20 mins before the players switched over to their familiar position and incidentally both these 2 players never clicked in that match. How can CEREZO try such a tactic in a very important match as that?
The Bonke-Aribo-Iheanacho midfield combination was another big mistake in that match which handed over the midfield completely to the Black Stars in the 1st half. Even the poorest fan knows that Iheanacho is never a midfielder or a number 10 player yet CEREZO played him for the entire duration of that match and Iheanacho was a minus 1 that day. Bonke too should not have started the game ahead of Etebo or Onyeka but hey “Our Own” felt otherwise and the result was there for us all to see.
Osimhen was completely isolated upfront and he couldn’t make any tactical change to correct that but only settled for a drab goals draw and now the pressure is on SE to ensure an outright win for us to qualify because any form of score draw against Ghana tomorrow means goodbye to Qatar.
However I believe in the boys to come out gun blazing tomorrow to carry the day but Eguavoen tactical savvy is well below par in all the time he has ever coached SE since 2006.
A draw against these harmless Ghana team is indeed a poor result my brother
It’s pathetic to note that Nigerians are running down their own while Ghana despite the home goaless draw showers praises on their team.
If Nigeria can adopt Ghana’s support at the stadium, I don’t see eagles losing.
Players have their off days which could have caused their below par performances. Partey being a star in the Ghanaian team wasn’t exceptional on that day.
The fact that Ghana played badly in the Afcon doesn’t make them a bad team, this is Ghana you are talking about, a country with one of the best impressive runs in World Cup history so far as Africa is concerned. Nigeria is showing a lot of disrespect to Ghana and will pay for it,,, they have a very good midfield in kudus-partey-Baba combo.
Nigeria suffered their heaviest defeat in soccer history to ghana 7-0 was the final score.
This is Ghana
Inferiority complex is the only reason why you’ll play only 2 shot on target at your home and celebrate a goalless draw. When was the last time you won a nations cup? Confused people fighting for a ball with all their strength like mad dogs.
Shut up you this hapless Ghanaian with 1950 stats
What does’this is Ghana’mean?Football is not aimless running, bad belle and use of juju.Nigeria has better standing in world football than Ghana
It’s all over for Ghana
What does’this is Ghana’mean?Football is not aimless running, bad belle and use of juju.Nigeria has better standing in world football than Ghana
I say for Ghana technical director Mr. Lippert you will see a hard and strong Super Eagles than you saw at Baba Yara stadium ; you will see cohesive and orgnized SE, you will see genius strikers who can score easly goals , you will see a combative defensive midfielders who will devastate your intention to control over midfield.
