Blanc Coy On Lyon Link

Laurent Blanc says he has not been contacted by Lyon about replacing Bruno Genesio but is keen on a return to management this summer. Genesio has confirmed he will be leaving the Groupama Stadium when his contract expires at the end of the season, club president Jean-Michel Aulas having decided against offering him an extension following an underwhelming campaign.

The list of potential candidates to succeed Genesio continues to grow with Patrick Vieira, Marcelo Gallardo, Christophe Galtier and even Jose Mourinho all mentioned in connection with the position. Another man in the frame for the post is former Paris Saint-Germain head coach Blanc, who has been out of football since parting ways with the Parisians in 2016.

The World Cup winner has been linked with several positions since then with Chelsea and Manchester United understood to have spoken to him about potentially trying his hand in the Premier League. Blanc has now revealed that he is now itching to get back into coaching and is keeping his options open, including potentially taking over at Lyon. “For the moment, they will change coach and I have not been asked by Lyon.

For now,” he told beIN Sports. When asked about getting back into football, he added: “I want to start training again. (…) I want to try to have a challenge that allows me to sit down or impose this vision of things. I do not ask for anything extraordinary.”
