Bluebirds Set For Defensive Reshuffle

Sol Bamba’s season-ending knee injury means Cardiff will have to reorganise their defence for Saturday’s home clash with West Ham.

Centre-back Bamba damaged ligaments in his knee during last weekend’s 2-0 loss at Wolves, a result that leaves Cardiff in the Premier League relegation zone and two points adrift of safety.

Bruno Ecuele Manga replaced Bamba at Molineux and he is expected to continue in his preferred position at centre-back with Lee Peltier remaining on the right side of the defence.

Harry Arter is pushing for a recall after being an unused substitute against Wolves, while Jacob Murphy, who was left out of the matchday squad altogether, could also make a return.

The pressure has seemingly begun to mount on Bluebirds boss Neil Warnock following three successive defeats, with a section of the club’s support having vocalised their discontent.

Warnock is not too concerned, however, as he feels he is still the best man for the job. When asked at a press conference about pressure from fans, Warnock said: “You get that wherever you go, if it was the majority then I would be worried.

“All I can do is the best I can. If I thought at any time that it would be better to have someone different in the place then I would say good luck to them.

“It wouldn’t worry me one bit because I have done the best I can. I think I am the best one to get us over the line.”
