Bluebirds Hold Benalouane Interest

Cardiff are reportedly considering making a move for Nottingham Forest centre-back Yohan Benalouane this summer. Tunisia international Benalouane, who was part of the Leicester squad that won the Premier League title back in 2016, only joined Forest from the Foxes during the January transfer window.

However, the 31-year-old has already established himself as something of a cult figure at the City Ground, not least as he scored the only goal of the game as Forest beat East Midlands rivals Derby last month.

The former Parma ace has formed an impressive partnership with Alexander Milosevic at the heart of the Forest defence and his eye-catching displays have not gone unnoticed, with Cardiff reportedly showing an interest.

The Bluebirds are keen to strengthen their backline, particularly as Sol Bamba faces an extended period on the sidelines with a knee ligament injury, and it appears Benalouane is on their wishlist.

A lot could depend on whether Cardiff retain their Premier League status, while Championship high-flyers Leeds are also reportedly keeping tabs on Benalouane, who is under contract with Forest until the summer of 2020.
