Bosso Vies For 2nd Term As Nigeria Football Coaches Association President

Flying Eagles Head Coach, Ladan Bosso, is set to vie to lead Nigeria Football Coaches Association for another term in office as president of the body, Completesports.com reports.

The coaches body’s election scheduled for June 18 in Abuja may see Bosso who led the Flying Eagles to the quarterfinals of the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Argentina return unopposed as nobody else has picked a form to contest the presidency of the coaching body with less than two weeks to the election

A five-member electoral committee led by Mohammed Manzo as chairman and Alphonsus Dike as secretary has begun the sale of nomination forms.

Capital No, can we start doing the right thing for once??? A president is supposed to be high achievers. Some members like Garba has won trophies and coached in all age grade level except the Super Eagles. Can we let the best lead so that he can positively affect other coaches with winning Mentality.

Oga Chima, you are not a member of the Association of coaches to say yes or no to a candidate. Let the members of the group choose their leaders in peace.Manu won with the u17. Mind you, that was 10 years ago. What has he achieved since then? Benitez won the UCL in 2005 but he now coaches relegation stricken teams. Róhr that you despise so much has once coached Bayern (even went as far as the final of the European Cup) and Bordeux at different times. Let the coaches decide.

Manu has not been given any job by your political NFF. I believe the president of Nigerian coaches should be one who can read matches and incorporate winning trophies with an excellent philosophy. But make I no burst your bubbles Bosso has not won any trophies in his career except Wafu cup. Manu Garba has displayed a high technical level and we all witnessed his football philosophy, you can visit YouTube and he discovered Kelechi, Ndidi, Awoniyi and many more. Do we need someone to advise us on who is more qualified to head coaches in Nigeria???

  • @ Chima, some of we fans may not like Bosso, but as Muyiwa mentioned, the coaches will decide.
Do ypu know Bosso gave us Ambrose, Ideye and Echejile from his flying eagles set and they were all afcon 2013 winners.
Do you even know since taling over FE he was only paid 3 months.

Compared the said players to the once Manu Garba produced??? How many of Bosso players played in EPL except Ighalo? Bosso discovered a few players lately too but his football is not the best when compared to Garba. Garba and Siasia are the few coaches that has showed high level of wisdom to handling matches against whatever team. The rest are just average and always having short lived tournament.

  • By the way that was u20 2007 chile

  • Chima my wonderful brother, you know I hate to argue with you but your first sentence in the reply to Muyiwa left me scratching my head.

Must Manu Garba wait for the “political” NFF for appointment? Is the NFF the only employer of labour for Nigerian coaches worldwide? Why did Manu fail as Under 20 coach where Bosso achieve moderate albeit underwhelming success?

I put it to you that Manu Garba’s success with the Golden Eaglets in 2013 also had more to do with the system that produced and nurtured those players long before they came under the coaching – care of Manu. Manu -admittedly- played his part but success wasn’t down to him only.

The same system on ground also aided Amuneke’s success with the Golden Eaglets just 2 years later.

Only Good knows whether Garba and Amuneke would have tasted and orchestrated the success they did under the disgraceful and shambolic set that Ugbade and Bosso have to work with.

Back to Manu Garba: how come he wasn’t able to leverage his Under 17 coaching success as launching pad to greater things. At least the NFF gave her 2 bites of the cheery in U-17 and U-20. Yet he is still waiting for the only employer of labour for coaches in the whole world for another big break.

At least Amuneke put himself out there. Whether he has been successful or not is irrelevant. The fact that he tested his coaching waters outside the employment of the NFF has to be applauded.

My brother, please rest with the Manu Garba talk!!!

    One love.

You know the reputation of Nigerians outside Nigeria and you expect a white man to employ him. Coach Manu Garba has only crashed out in a single tournament and that was at 2015 u20 KO stage against Brazil led Gabriel Jesus. Aside that tournament he has been to 3 of 4 major finals as a coach and won 2/3 of his finals which includes the u17 Nations cup and U17 WC, plus he also won the Caf u20 nations cup on his first attempt. I don’t need to introduce anyone to his possessive game that comes with lots of goals unlike Nduka Ugbade’s tiki taka with less goals. It is for the good of our football that makes me clamour for him.

      • Maybe you don’t get it. Being “boss of bosses”, it will give bosso the leeway to remain “relevant” in Nigeria football thereby shutting out others who still have a point to prove in coaching. It is not only you who thinks bosso is “underdeveloping” Nigeria football. I am his critic too.

But glass house is highly political and some people play it well.

Wait oh. You no hear say NFF wan make am Olympic coach to groom daga and yum yum player and his spineless under 20 team of aged men?

        Dey there.

“You expect a white man to employ him”. Is it super mandatory for Manu Garba to coach in a white man’s land to prove he is a good coach? The way we make it look like it is only with NFF that coaching jobs exist amazes me walahi. Like Dr.Drey would say it is only in Nigeria that our coaches see NT appointments as the only job in the world. Check out the dude Coaching Remo U-18 abi na U-20 team, he could also have folded his arms and do nothing but wait for an NFF appointment.
As regards the coaches’ association thing, who are we to tell them or dictate to them who to vote or elect as their president.

Na wa for us Nigerians sef, na e’tin we won wail and complain about.
Nigerians, una biko oo ennnh, abeg let that change that we all so much desire begin with us be

  • What are the criteria a coach must have for the position? Is it just trophies and medals won or positive impact across the nations football pyramid as well as player and team development. Just want to know cos this is new to me…..anyone??
