Argentina and Inter Miami star Lionel Messi has won a record-extending eight Ballon d’Or award.
Messi picked up the award at the 2023 ceremony ceremony in Paris, France.
The former Barcelona captain finished ahead of Erling Haaland, who placed second and Kylian Mbappe who was third.

Kevin De Bruyne was fourth, Rodri placed fifth, in sixth position was Vinicius Junior, Julian Alvarez was seventh, Victor Osimhen finished eight, at number nine is Bernardo Silva while Luka Modrić completed the top 10.
For the 2023 Women’s Ballon d’Or award Barcelona and Spain midfielder Aitana Bonmati emerged winner.
In other awards, Barcelona won Women’s Club of the Year, Manchester City won Men’s Club of the Year, Jude Bellingham got the Kopa Trophy, the Yacine trophy went to Emiliano Martinez, Haaland was awarded the Gerd Muller trophy and Vinicius got the Socrates award.

Oshoala did better than Aitama Bomanti in terms of scoring mores goals but Aitama did better in the Spanish national team which culminated in their winning the world cup. For me Oshoala is world best female footballer her Achilles heel remains her poor performance in Super falcons shirt. When will her club form be translated into her national team form? It’s a shame . Messi is greatest and it will not be a shock if he comes back in two years again. For next year I am tipping Erling Haaland or Jude Bellingham. Erling will be at Madrid soon alongside Mbappe and KDB for us to witness another Era of Galaticos.

I remember very well in 2018, Luca Modric won it and Croatia were beaten in the finals that same year Ronaldo deserved it more because of Madrid’s excapades in Europe and UEFA but we all know how Journalists, Media and FIFA feels about CR7, So why did a French Wining World Cup Player not win it in 2018??. Because Ronaldo deserved it yet they gave it to Modric!

If we take it to the conetext of Modrics triumph in 2018 Mbappe deserved this award more than Messi in all honesty if you look at his WC performance even if France were beaten finalists.
Mbappe Contributed more than Messi in PSG last season and was the best player in the Finals WC France v Argentina and also in the tournament overall.

No one can honestly say Messi was the best player in the last 12 months . A 7 game tournament is not the only football that was played in the past 12 months … If they say it’s all about the world cup, how come mbappe dint finish second … Mbappe had a better tournament than Messi….was top scorer with 8goals ( 2 penalties included) … anyone that understands this game knows its all propaganda…
2010 Spain won their first ever world cup , they dint remember that it was all about the world cup . They still gave it to Messi, saying he won la liga and was top scorer in Europe and champions league … 12 yrs later , halaand wins mancitys first ever treble , top scorer in the league with a new record , top scorer in champions league, top scorer in Europe and they still give Messi that PSG fans booed out of France for failing to help the team pass round of 16 in CL….
