Bundesliga: Awoniyi On Target As Union Berlin Defeat Mainz

Super Eagles striker, Taowo Awoniyi scored a goal to help Union Berlin overcome Mainz 3-1 in Saturday’s Bundesliga game.

The Nigerian international, who was making his 20th appearance for Berlin was too hot to handle by Mainz defenders.

He netted his 9th goal of the league season as he scored a brilliant goal in the 75th minute to the delight of the coach.

He was substituted in the 67th minute for Andreas Voglsammer after a decent performance.

Genki Haraguchi scored the opening goal in the 7th minute before Sheraldo Becker extended their lead in the 56th minute.

However, the visitor got their consolation goal in the 90th minute through Delano Burgzorg.

The victory means Berlin sit seventh on the league table on 37 points while Mainz sit 9th on 34 points.

Weldon! But SE strike force for Ghana W/C qualifier still remains unchanged. It’s still IGHALO/OSIMHE

Reminds me of Yekini’ s days as SE gangling striker. Rashidi was so good that all the goals scored by Richard Owobokiri in Portugal for Boavista counted for nothing as he could not play for Nigeria

Nice one Awoniyi. You will be the focal point against Ghana. Definitely a Super Eagles striker. Continue doing well in Germany. You got this.
Heaven bless Awoniyi and all deserving Super Eagles strikers.

    Great goal by Awo..
Osi9, Awo, Dennis, Onuachu, Sadiq and Dessers are the top strikers for Eagle.
Ekong is yet to play a single match for watford this year, Uzoho is warming the bench in Omonia, Aina isn considered for first 11 selection since returning from AFCON, Awaziem is glued to the bench in an Turkey..
Cerezo shine your eyes and get the best for Eagles against Ghana. Only players that are playing regularly should be considered for selection..
No player should be made to think ge is indispensable.

    • Great comment
We need solid defenders playing regularly for their clubs
      Active defenders make little mistakes
Inactive defenders make terrible mistakes that will cost us.

This is his 10th goal in the Bundesliga and 15th in all competitions. Definitely one of our top 3 strikers in Europe.

Awo, is a big boy anytime, he has the the potential to explode as a top striker, he knows how to put defenders under pressure.Ghana defenders would be gasping for gas with Awo, Denis Osi. we don’t need predictable strikers, old legs or dancing on the ball strikers against Ghana, we need predator strikers with killer instincts.
