CAF: Akpeyi Key To Kaizer Chiefs’ Impressive Champions League Campaign

Confederation of African Football  (CAF) has described Daniel Akpeyi and his goalkeeper teammates Itumeleng Khune and Bruce Bvuma at Kaizer Chiefs as the secret for the team’s impressive run in this season’s Champions League.

Kaizer Chiefs sealed a first ever Champions League final berth after eliminating Morocco’s Wydad AC in the semi-final.

The South African giants progressed into the final on a 1-0 aggregate win, winning the first-leg away 1-0 before holding out for a goalless in the reverse fixture.

In goal for the second-leg was Akpeyi who returned from injury and emerged Man of the Match after making series of saves.

He is yet to concede a single goal in this season’s campaign.

And reflecting on the performance of Akpeyi and his colleagues, CAF published a video of their performances and wrote:”Kaizer Chiefs’ three musketeers!

“The goalkeepers were the secret ingredient to their team’s spectacular TotalEnergiesCAFCL campaign so far!”

Kaizer Chiefs will hope to become the third South African club, alongside Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns, to lift the CAF Champions League when they face Al Ahly.

The final which will be played in Casablanca, Morocco, is billed for Saturday, July 17.

This is a cheering news about this young man. It’s a pity your country men see you as a good for nothing goalie. Wishing you well,Dan!

@Gbenga,our problem in Nigeria is both structural and spiritual. We don’t see anything good in our own.Apkeyi as far as am concerned remains our best keeper now until the rest grow in status.

Our problem with Akpeyi is not in his quality but,as someone said on this platform his face gives him away.In other words if Apkeyi’ s face is adjusted to that of Dea Gea he will be liked by all.

There is no keeper on earth,no matter how good that has never made the kind of mistakes he has made in goal post. But I stand to say that some of the saves he has made are uncommon.

Until we learn to appr3ciate our own and adore them even in trying times, our Nation will never move forward.

Thank You so much!! Emmanuel???? Thank You so much!!! Please go to iya mulika’s store and carry one crate of big stout, I’ll pay in the evening! I was just discussing this with someone yesterday, how I wonder sometimes if God can please Nigerians. Look at the homebase players who lost 4-0 the other day and Nigerians are busy cursing and abusing them. No one wanted to see it from the angle that, these boys were not exposed. I’m sure a lot of them have never been to the US before. I’m sure the NFF wasn’t expecting the boys to beat Mexico, but to help grind them and make them a formidable force. Making them play a better team than them will make them tougher, but people didn’t see that. They rather choose to see the negative side of everything and then we begin to abuse and curse our own! Seriously!! Until the day we learn to speak positively and support our own, there’s no going forward oh. It’s like a flat tire.. if you don’t pump it, you’re not going anywhere!

Ogas drop the matter abeg! How many chances do we need to give Akpeyi before we know he’s good?? Blunders virtually every match! The kudos should go to Kazier Chiefs Defenders who have done well to keep their lines. If this one see better shot or striker face laidis, na Basket be that!

Please Nigeria has moved forward than going back to Akpeyi. Drop the matter abeg. Let this Akpeyi matter jus die

The problem with Akpeyi is that whenever he is on duty for Nigeria,he will be shaking and moving up and down unnecessarily!!!.The confidence is not there for national colours, but i still prefer him to ezenwa.

  • Congratulations brother . Even when those that have failed woefully in their lives blame you without looking at themselves , you keep winning and making progress. They blame you for everything. I don’t know what this quiet and so reserved you have done to deserve the treatment accrued to you by them but thank God you are a strong person.
