Nigerian champions Rangers recorded a slim 1-0 victory over Angola’s Sagrada Esperanca
in the first leg of their CAF Champions League second preliminary round tie in Uyo on Friday.
Substitute Kazeem Ogunleye scored the decisive goal 12 minutes from time.
Rangers have now scored three goals in four games across all competitions this season.
The return leg will be played at the Estadio 11 de Novembro, Luanda on Sunday, November 22.
The overall winners will advance to the money-spinning group stage of the CAF Champions League.
Nigeria’s other representative in the competition Remo Stars were eliminated in the first round by AS FAR of Morocco.
