Africa’s football governing body CAF, NFf and French club Olympique Marseille, on Thursday sent birthday wishes to former Super Eagles star defender Taye Taiwo who turns 35, Completesports.com reports.
Sending their wishes CAF wrote on their verified Twitter handle: “Happy Birthday to former Nigeria international Taye Taiwo!

“The defender has two Total AFCON third-place medals with his country from the 2006 & 2010 editions!”
The NFF wrote: “Happy birthday super Taiye Taiwo.”
And according to Marseille: “Super Eagle. Super Olympian. Super Celebration.
“Happy birthday to the one and only Taye Taiwo. Enjoy your special day.”
Taiwo started his professional career here in Nigeria featuring for Gabros and Lobi Stars.
In 2005 he joined Ligue 1 giants Marseille and spent six years at the club before departing for AC Milan in 2011.
After failing to impress at Milan he was sent on loan to Queens Park Rangers and Dynamo Kiev before eventually leaving the Italian giants in 2013.
He made his Super Eagles debut in 2004 in an international friendly against South Africa.
During his time with the Eagles he featured at the 2006, 2008 and 2010 Cup of Nations.
He was a member of the Eagles squad that took part at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
At junior level he helped the Flying Eagles finish second at the 2005 FIFA U-20 World Cup in the Netherlands.
