CAFCC: Ogunbote Hails Rangers Fighting Spirit In Away Draw Vs Sfaxien

Enugu Rangers head coach Gbenga Ogunbote has praised his players  for their fighting spirit after they rallied back to earn a share of the spoils in Wednesday’s CAF Confederation Cup Group B away  clash against Tunisian side, CS Sfaxien,  reports Completesports.com.

Ala Marzougui gave Sfaxien the lead in the 71st minute when he nodded home Nour Zammouri’ cross.

But Rangers had no intention of letting their hosts enjoy their moment. A minute later, Sfaxien goalkeeper Ayman Dahmen spilled a free-kick and Sane tapped home the rebound for the equalizer, and cut shot the joy of the ‘Black and White’.

In the 78th minute, Bobby Clement found himself in a one-on-one situation with Sfaxien goalkeeper Dahmen, but the latter stepped out of his safe zone to weather the storm as both sides shared the spoils.

“It was a good game; no one expected it to be easy. We were playing against a team that has won the CAF Confederation Cup before,”Ogunbote told reporters after the game.

“We thought it would be more difficult. The winning mentality exists in our team.”

“The moment we conceded, we knew that we cannot lose to CS Sfaxien. You say Rangers, you never say die. We managed to take back home one point and that’s a positive result.”

The draw keeps the Flying Antelopes at the top of the standings despite tied on four points with Sfaxien.

Their next game in the competition is an away fixture against another Tunisian opposition,  Etoile Sportive du Sahel on February 24.

Burkinabe side Salitas and Etoile du Sahel of Tunisia settled for a barren draw in the other Group B clash in Ouagadougou.
