Rayan Cherki equaled former Manchester City star Ilkay Gundogan’s Premier League feat, after helping Enzo Maresca’s side to a remarkable 2-1 comeback win against Bournemouth on Sunday.
City were on the verge of losing their opening league fixture after Marcus Tarvenier gave Bournemouth the lead on 26 minutes.
But Cherki, who came on in the 63rd minute, provided the two assists for City’s two goals scored by Marc Guehi and Josko Gvardiol.
The France international swung in a brilliant corner kick which Guehi headed home to make it 1-1 on 84 minutes.

Then in the 91st minute he threaded in a through pass from the edge of the box to Gvardiol who slotted past the Cherries keeper. The goal was initially ruled out for offside but was eventually awarded after consultation with Video Assistant Referee (VAR).
Following his superb display, Cherki is now the first Manchester City substitute with two assists in a Premier League game since Gündogan in December 2021 (v Leeds), according to OptaJoe.
Aside his two assists, Cherki made 18 touches, had 12 successful passes, had four chances created, the most in the encounter, in the 27 minutes he played.
