The CAF Champions League Group A match between Nigeria’s sole representative, Lobi Stars of Makurdi and Wydad Casablanca of Morocco earlier scheduled for Friday, February Ist has been rescheduled for Saturday February 2 in Enugu, Completesports.com reports.
The change was necessitated by the unavailability of the stadium in Enugu on Friday due to host a presidential campaign rally of one of the political parties, All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Nigeria Football Federation after making several frantic efforts succeeded in getting CAF to reschedule the Lobi Stars -Wydad clash for 2pm on Saturday.
“The match will now hold on Saturday by 2 pm instead of the earlier date of Friday and 5pm kick off time. CAF were lenient with us by granting us the shift in date and we appreciate this gesture,” an NFF official stated.
Meanwhile, Wydad who are top of the Group A on three points with superior goals difference arrived Enugu on Tuesday to acclimatize ahead of the game.
Mamelodi Sundowns, Asec Mimosas and Lobi occupy second, third and fourth positions respective also on three points apiece, but with fewer goals scored.
Hosts Lobi Stars are also in Enugu ready for the game.
