Congratulations girls una don try Batman go still come collect accolades for this one.

  • Edo Queens did exceptionally well to run away clear winners in this encounter despite the best intentions of the referee who disallowed one perfectly legitimate goal for the Nigerians.

All three of Edo Queens’ goals came immediately or shortly after set-piece routines which shows how dialled in they were in these situations.

During open play though, the quality of their deliveries have to be better to carve out credible goal scoring chances in future.

Ex-Flamingos Miracle Usani was simply and utterly fabulous to watch down the right flank from her fullback position. She displayed competent overlapping skills in excelsis – bombing up and down to deliver crafty crosses and purposeful passes. But she wasn’t overly troubled defensively. Although she will shockingly not be in the U-20 world cup starting next week, I still feel she can give Michelle Alozie a run for her money in the Super Falcons in the run up to next year’s Wafcon.

Benin Republic’s Ainonvi FC were not much of a threat to Edo Queens’ defenders as they failed to fashion out credible scoring opportunities.

I liked the 4-3-3 formation played by Edo Queens. The players moved comfortably in this arrangement with coordination, coordination and competence. Their passes were sleek, neat and tidy. They delivered promising crosses and they failed to give up on seemingly lost causes leading to two of the goals scored.

But decision making wasn’t always up to scratch. Several crosses were misplaced and balls in the final third lacked quality after sustained neat build up of passes. Also, Edo Queens defenders were easy to dribble past and out-paced on few occasions.

The bottom line however is that Edo Queens got the job done in style.

    CONGRATS LADIES!

By far the best team in the WAFU B qualifiers, despite the ref today letting the Beninoise kick them black-and blue!
