Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin says he must continue to play without fear as he prepares to face Liverpool on Sunday.
The England U21 international scored the final goal of Tuesday’s 3-0 win at Cardiff City and is now looking to repeat that success in the Merseyside Derby this weekend. Calvert-Lewin has been praised by a number of the Toffees squad for his display at the Cardiff City Stadium but he admits it means nothing if he does not back it up against Liverpool.
“This past week in training, I’ve been feeling confident and been training really well,” he told evertontv. “I took that into the game and played with no fear. I kept going until the end. When I saw the three minutes go up for stoppage time I thought, ‘That’s three more minutes to try to get a goal’. “For any player, it’s about consistency and I have to do perform like that on a consistent basis. I know I can do it, it’s about proving to everyone else that I can.”
