Cardiff’s Team Spirit Called Into Question

A run of three straight defeats has led former defender Danny Gabbidon to question Cardiff’s team spirit.

The Bluebirds looked to have taken a giant step towards Premier League survival following back-to-back wins over Bournemouth and Southampton at the start of February, but a run of three straight defeats since then has seen them slip back into the relegation zone.

It is not just losing those games that has disappointed Cardiff’s supporters but also the manner of the defeats, as they have conceded 10 goals during that time and scored just one.

Former Wales international Gabbidon, who made over 200 appearances for the club between 2000 and 2005, has now questioned the team spirit in Neil Warnock’s squad. “Been a tough week for the Bluebirds,” the 39-year-old posted on Twitter. “Three games in which the opposition have done diddly squat to get their goals! “Something isn’t right.

We can talk systems, personnel etc etc but I’m not buying that. I’m looking at the body language, the team spirit. Looks all wrong to me.” Gabbidon’s comments may come as something of a surprise, as Cardiff’s team spirit was praised considerably after they earned promotion back to the Premier League last season.
