Manchester United manager Michael Carrick has urged fans and players to stay positive and keep their spirits up after a 4-2 pre-season defeat to AC Milan on Saturday.
Despite twice leading through Harry Maguire and Patrick Dorgu, United conceded late goals in Poland, though Carrick insisted his team is ready for the new season.

Carrick admitted his side “didn’t play very well” and that the performance fell below the required standard.
He noted that several players were logging their first competitive minutes of the summer, which would benefit them long-term.
Despite the defensive collapse against their former manager Ruben Amorim’s Milan side, Carrick emphasized that pre-season training has been strong and the squad remains in good spirits.
“Today, we’re disappointed with it. We didn’t play well today. There are reasons for that and we need to improve,” he told the media.

“Some of the boys were playing their first minutes. Different reasons – but no excuses. We didn’t play very well,’ Carrick told reporters following the final whistle.
“Overall, we are ready for next week. A lot of the boys will be better off for the minutes. We’ve done a lot of work on the training pitch, the performances in the games have been pretty good. We’re still in good spirits going into next week.”
