Southampton right-back Cedric Soares is reportedly attracting the interest of French outfit Monaco. Portugal international Soares’ four-year stay at St Mary’s looks like it will be coming to an end this summer after his drop down the pecking order since the arrival of Austrian manager Ralph Hasenhuttl.
The 27-year-old right-back spent the second half of last season on loan at Inter Milan but failed to impress during his time in Italy, making only four Serie A appearances. Soares has returned to the south coast after the Nerazzurri decided against signing him permanently but he may not be in England for too much long following reports of interest from France.
Ligue 1 side Monaco are looking to strengthen their defensive options this summer and manager Leonardo Jardim has set his sights on Southampton’s full-back, who is in the final year of his contract. It is claimed Soares is available for around £8million and a deal is said to be on the cards, especially with rumours abound that incumbent right-back Djibril Sidibe is set to leave the Stade Louis II.
