Dele-Bashiru Eyeing First-Team Spot

Tom Dele-Bashiru says he is ready to “take the next step” after completing his move to Watford. The Hornets have snapped the midfielder up on a six-year deal after his contract expired at Manchester City and he is already setting his sights on breaking into the first team.

Nigeria Under-20 international Dele-Bashiru is yet to make a Premier League appearance but he has impressed during his time in the Citizens’ youth ranks, earning plaudits for his displays for the U23’s. With Etienne Capoue and Abdoulaye Doucoure the current midfield pairing for Watford, it will be tough for the new arrival to make an instant impact but he believes he is ready for senior football.

“I feel like all youth players have their own pathway and story, but I am now ready to take the next step,” he told the club’s official website. “I need to be playing games and making a name for myself.” Dele-Bashiru is the fourth player to arrive at Vicarage Road this summer, joining Joao Pedro, Craig Dawson and Sam Dalby.
