Update- Champions League: Man City Knock Madrid Out As Lyon Send Juve Packing

Costly errors from Raphael Varane saw Real Madrid lose 2-1 to Manchester City and crash out of this season’s Champions League while Juventus beat Lyon but were eliminated on away goals rules.

City went through on 4-2 aggregate after winning the first-leg 2-1 at the Bernabeu.

It was a night to forget for Varane who was robbed of the ball by Gabriel Jesus inside the box before the Brazilian laid off for Raheem Sterling to tap into the net on nine minutes.

Madrid were back on level terms in the 28th minute through Karim Benzema who headed in a right wing cross.

But on 68 minutes a poor header to Thibaut Courtois was pounced on by Jesus who slotted into the net.

And in Italy Cristiano Ronaldo scored two goals but it was not enough as Juventus got knocked out despite winning the second-leg 2-1.

Lyon picked the quarter-final ticket on away goals rules with aggregate score at 2-2 after they won the first-leg 1-0.

It was not the best of starts for Juventus who went behind on 12 minutes after Memphis Depay scored from the penalty spot.

Juventus equalised through Ronaldo who also converted from the penalty spot on 43 minutes.

The former Real Madrid star put Juve 2-1 ahead with a brilliant left-foot strike.

Juve poured forward for the third goal but Lyon held on to progress.
