Championship: Balogun Cleared For Wigan’s Home Clash Against Luton Town

Nigeria defender Leon Balogun has been declared fit for Wigan Athletic’s Sky Bet Championship home clash against Luton Town at the DW Stadium on Saturday, reports Completesports.com.

Balogun was replaced by Kal Naismith in the 69th minute of Wigan Athletic’s 1-0 away win at West Bromwich Albion last Saturday due to illness.

”Leon Balogun came off due to illness midway through the second half in Latics’ 1-0 win away at West Bromwich Albion last Saturday, but is set to continue in defence against Luton Town,”reads a statement on the club’s website on Friday.

The 31-year-old has featured in five league games since linking up with the Latics on a six-month loan deal from Brighton & Hove Albion on transfer deadline day.

The centre-back was on Wednesday named in Nigeria’s squad for this month’s 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying double-header against the Leone Stars of Liberia.

Wigan are unbeaten in their last three Championship games.
