Chelsea New Signing Lavia Suffers Fresh Injury Setback

Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed that summer signing Romeo Lavia has suffered a fresh injury setback.

Lavia had been introduced off the bench early in the second half in Chelsea’s win against Crystal Palace and impressed on his debut.

However, Lavia suffered a late knock and Pochettino confirmed the midfielder’s fitness would need to be evaluated ahead of Saturday’s trip to Luton Town.

“Lavia felt something and we need to check and hope it’s not too bad,” the Blues head coach was quoted on chelseafc.com.

“We are a little bit worried because if you watch the game [against Crystal Palace] I had to change his position with (Conor) Gallagher at the end because he was struggling to run.

“We will see what is going on. We hope it’s not a big issue and he can be with us again. He’s an important player that we recovered, and it’s going to be a shame if we cannot use him in the next few games.”

Meanwhile, Pochettino confirmed that Mykhailo Mudryk would also need to be assessed ahead of tomorrow’s game.

The Ukrainian limped off during the second half of Chelsea’s victory over Crystal Palace.
