Chelsea manager, Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed that Ben Chilwell suffered a hamstring injury during their 1-0 victory over Brighton and Hove Albion in the Third Round of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday and the left-back could be sidelined for a while.
According to the Daily Mail, as cited by Football Talk, Pochettino said that it appears as though Chiwell, who was substituted at the tail end of last night’s game has aggravated the two hamstring injuries he has been nursing.
The Blues used all of their substitutes and finished the game with ten men. The West London club have already lost several first-team players to injuries, including Romeo Lavia and Christopher Nkunku, who were both signed in the summer.

Marcus Bettinelli, Reece James, Carney Chukwuemeka, Trevoh Chalobah, Benoit Badiashile, Wesley Fofana, and others are also receiving medical attention.
Nkunku and Lavia haven’t featured for Chelsea yet this season. The former is anticipated to return to full training in December, while the latter could be available for selection before their Premier League match against Arsenal in October.
“Is Chilwell injured? Yes,” said Pochettino after Wednesday’s home win.
“We need to assess it tomorrow but I think it is hamstring,” he added.
Since moving from Leicester City to Stamford Bridge in 2020, Chilwell has struggled with injuries. Across all competitions. He has made 92 appearances, contributed 13 assists, and scored nine goals.
Chelsea have had a difficult start to the new season. The Blues have won just one game and garnered five points so far in the 2023/24 Premier League season. Their solitary victory came against the newly promoted Luton Town at Stamford Bridge.
The victory over Brighton could act as a springboard for Pochettino’s men as they travel to Craven Cottage to play Fulham in the league on Monday, October 1.
