Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets suffered a 4-2 defeat to Australia in their second match at the Four-Nation Invitational Tournament in China on Wednesday.
The result condemned the five-time FIFA U-17 World Cup champions to a second successive defeat in the competition after they lost 3-2 to Tanzania in their opening fixture.
Uwejamomere Eboboritse’s side have now conceded seven goals, while scoring four in two outings, highlighting areas the coaching crew will be keen to address before their next assignment.
Despite showing flashes of attacking quality, the Golden Eaglets were unable to contain a clinical Australian side, who capitalised on defensive lapses to win the tie.

Nigeria will round off their campaign at the invitational tournament against hosts China on Saturday, with the encounter providing another valuable opportunity for the team to fine-tune its tactics and build cohesion.
The Four-Nation Invitational Tournament forms part of the Golden Eaglets’ preparations for the WAFU B U-17 Championship scheduled for September.
The regional competition will serve as the qualifying tournament for the 2027 Africa U-17 Cup of Nations, where the continent’s representatives for the FIFA U-17 World Cup will also be determined.
The technical crew will be hoping the experience gained in China will help sharpen the squad ahead of the crucial qualifiers.

All Nigerians Please This IS A National Emergency. The Football Federation Has To Step Down All It’s Appointees As A Matter Of Fact In Other To Fix Every Incompetence, Starting From Dubious Unmerited Appointments From U-17 U-20 And Other Unqualified Officials Alongside Gusua. Football Is Dying In Nigeria And People Have Turn Blind And Dumb.
You cannot plant ugu vegetable leaf and expect to reap yam, no no no, never, imposicant.
The question is how did nff assemble these politicians children.
How, the more you guys make wrong move the more you kill Nigeria football.
Out of almost 300m worth of population, you guys can’t get just 22 under age players. What a wiked country.
Chai, 2015 World Champions and 3-time FIFA champions, have turned to meow meow pussycat, beaten and battered by the likes of Tanzania and Australia.
How have the tables turned! How are the mighty fallen!
We remember how Amuneke and Ugbade threw the camp open so anyone could try to win a shirt, which was how Osimhen, Chukwueze, and Awoniyi got in. Today, no one even knows when the trials were held or when they were done, let alone the process.
A team of typical Nigerian U17 street footballers cannot be easily beaten at this level when techniques and tactics have not been deeply embedded in team play, and it’s mostly about talent.
Who will rescue Nigerian football from Gusau and his dubious appointments and selection processes!??? Why is Infantino doing this to Nigerian by shielding Ali Baba Gusau and the 40 thieves from questioning and auditing???
This is true.
That a team assemble by Uwejamomere Eboboritse allowed seven goals into their net in two matches (I.e 3-2 loss to Tanzania and 4 -2 defeat to Australia) shows how porous the team defense and the mid-field are against all these teams and also reveals that the selection process is faulty by the coach.
Secondly, it reveals the level of experience of the Coach to the team. It means the coach is an amateur coach. We need an experience coach to nurture these young talents in great team.
It also shows that the selection process is biased and weak. From reports gathered, it was reported that majority of the players selected were from U15 future eagles which means healthy competition was not allowed to occur in the selection process. In other words, the coach did not allow for healthy competition which means he didn’t allow other players who willing to show case their talents to compete with these U 15 boys which is very bad and this shows how NFF is organizing our under-age teams.
I will have to tell Uwejamomere Eboboritse that the first two defeats conceded in your career as coach is not good for your CV.
You have started on wrong record which you must correct before, during and other competitions you will undertake from now starting with the last match between Nigeria and China on Saturday 11th July,2026 if not we’ll count as three defeats in three matches for you as record.
You have started your work as National team coach a losing trend I.e played two international matches and losing the two matches, it is not a good record hence start to respond positively. You need to improve period.
If a Nigerian U17 is conceding 7 goals against teams like Tanzania and Australia, then that is not a red flag; it is a red billboard.
There is still time to get a new coach and assemble new players, act now to avoid another disgrace.
The most wikedly annoying thing is that you should watch it, nff will continue to believe in these boys hoping one day they will improve until when Togo under 17 will beat us 5-0 wafu under 17 and fail again to make it to world cup and under 17 afcon before their eye will clear.
The eye the will stay and function with you till old age won’t be bringing out pores at 17.
A word is enough from this wiked board.
