Chukwueze Yet To Confirm Availability For 2019 U-20 World Cup Appearance

Samuel Chukwueze is yet to make a decision on whether or not to represent Nigeria at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland this May, Completesports.com reports.

The Villarreal winger is among the eight overseas-based professionals invited by Flying Eagles head coach Paul Aigbogun who released 30-man provisional list for the team’s three-week camping exercise in Ingolstadt, Germany.

The other overseas-based players are; Kingsley Michael, Ash Kigbu, Tom Dele-Bashiru, Chinedu Ekene, Henry Offia, Abubakar Jibril and Hamdi Akujobi.

But the Villarreal youngster is not certain he will honour the call with less than three weeks to the start of the competition.

“Chukwueze has not decided whether he will play at the U-20 World Cup in Poland, ” a reliable source close the to the player informed Completesports.com on Tuesday.

“His main focus at the moment is to help Villarreal escape relegation in the Spanish LaLiga. He will surely make a decision on his availability for the U-20 World Cup soon.”

Chukwueze has scored five goals in 24 league appearances for Villarreal this season.

The Flying Eagles had a disappointing outing at the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Niger early in the year and Aigbogun has decided to beef up
the squad with more quality and experienced players.

The Flying Eagles have been drawn in the same group alongside Qatar, USA and Ukraine at the 2019 FIFA U20 World Cup finals.

letting chukwueze go to under 20 wlcup instead of afcon will be a grave mistake rohr will live to regret, chukwueze is our best winger at the moment in Europe top 5 league, against Argentina mbappe Rose to d occassion when France needed him so will chukwueze do for see,if d coach drops him base on sentiment he will lose my support n I will bigin to question his intergrity as a coach.God bless Nigeria

    Isn’t U20 meant 2 discover players,
but y then using chukwueze dat have already been discovered and had improved in terms of nice football 4 U20?
chukwuze have a great role 2 play in super eagles team

  • Domwi!! 5 years ago

Did pogba not play for france at under 20 level? ..chukwuwueze will not be the most decorated player in that competetion. You are definitely going to see the likes of vinicius junior, they is also possibilities to see various First team players of top european clubs whom are within the age bracket. Please! Whoever is capable and eligible, let him play!.

  • Naija where a man with a disputed WAEC result is deputized by a professor of law!
Anything can happen. Uzoho self can be drafted to under 20.
Abormination!” While princes walk on foot, slaves ride on horse back”
One day will be one day, a man go carry belle born pikin for naija.

    • I must say my friend that educational qualifications does not make one a capable leader. Remove politics and put sports here!

Africa don’t have good pitch for him to blossom, he should please go to the World Cup and shine, then Super Eagles awaits you in the future. Your a sure bet for the seniors.

    • D. Drey remember that messi was already a star when i won 2005 edition and ayew was already a national teamer when he won 2009 edition with ghana. Pogba was already a star when he won it with france also fabrigas was already a first team player in arsenal when he was included in the spanish 2005 u20 even mikel obi was already in man u rader befor the turnament. If chukwueze join the team he will not be the first. U can imagine sterlin was in the last edition won by england so playing there is to win and add to ur nations record. He can still make afcon if rohr want he can join after the u20 wcup and please lets not talk about fatig becos this guys plays for their clubs every week sometimes twice a week. They have to commit to the nation anytime anyday it is a national duty. They are not defferent from soldiers and police who put in their lives to serve the nation. Nigeria national team made chukwueze. Also with mikel obi these guys should be commited to nigeria not middlesbrough. If not naija who will know mikel or enyama who just retired for a mehr argument and moses a small boy just retired like that emenike as well. These mentioned guys are ingreats and selfish minded players who got fame and wealth through the national process then later they will be acting as if it was them that favoured the nation in fact thunder go spark thier dada.

How can you hav this kind of player and let him go for the so called world cup. a world cup that you cannot win. Let us put our strenght for this afcon then we can win this. Chukweze will be very vital and key for our triomph. Am very surprise with our coaches

  • greenturf 5 years ago

Rohr has seen Chukwueze play at close range.Apparently, there are very good wingers who are also in contention for places in the team to the nations cup in Egypt.Should Chukwueze make the roster to the nations cup he wont start ahead of Kalu who is revered by the gaffer as a spectacular player and a very important member of the team.
So basically, why waste such a talent on the bench when he can be of importance to the country in other assignment.

  • Mister 5 years ago

Pleaz coach Rohr tell to coach Aigbogun to leave Chukweze for afcon it is not U20 material he s already super Eagles matérial. It is not difficult to be seen and understand.once again we want this one more than this u20 world cp pleaz

  • It doesn’t matter if you are going, so long as you are good enough you should play at the senior level.
If not for sentiment and other factors Kalu and Chekwueze should play at left and right wingers respectively. Iwobi should play at the AMD. This combination will be too hurt to handle for any opposition defense. Between the dua and Iwobi any one that shows some weakness in a match the gaffer can change to bring in Mikel if we are in front Mikel will bring in his experience to stabilize and control the tempo. Osimehen, Onouchi, Musa, Ogu can come in to bring some impetus our game plan. All it takes is for the coach to look at his opponents and make the right selection got each match. I believe we have the potential to do well at the AFCON come June.

I just hope this is not another Ahmed Musa situation. At a point, Musa was playing for the U-20, U-23 and the senior team simultaneously. This does not augur well for the player, as it can easily result in burnout and injury. As someone said, under-whatever competition is mainly to help with discovery of potential senior players. Chukwueze has already distinguished himself as a SE material. Now Rohr and co need to decide the best way to use this boy’s talent in the coming months.

  • Edoman. 5 years ago

May Almighty God not allow Samuel Chukwueze to agree to go to this so-called World cup. He is far above that level of football. All attempt to draft this young talented footballer should fail. God, allow the great Liverpool football club to sign him this summer. Amen.

  • Chukwueze has past U20,why didn’t England went with Rashford and Dele Alli in 2017?or why didn’t France went with mbappe, pls take that guy to afcon

  • JOHN CENA 5 years ago

I believe honouring the U-20 world cup invitation will not stall his career development, instead it may increase his market value if he plays well. He has almost 100% chance of playing 90mins with the team than the super eagles at the moment so I think it will help him more. There are so many wingers/attackers in the super eagles set up and all of them cannot play at once so let’s support whatever decision he makes

  • Mister 5 years ago

Chukweze, musa, onyekuru, kalu are our best wingers at the moment.one of them missing will be a big blow for us. So stop Talking nonsense Chukweze is for super Eagles not u20 Lebel team go and search for another talent

  • Mister 5 years ago

His club say they will allow him to go to one tournament not both you dont hear that then how can we accept to waste such a talent for so called u20 a world cup that we already know we can’t Win it in front of thé owners germany Brésil France and co….why? Nonsense.

  • Chukwueze for the SE and under 23 (Olypic Eagles) only.
    Don’t burn him out.
    #SAVE CHUKWUEZE FOR THE BEST.

  • You are absolutely correct sir. I have said the same on chukwueze highlights video on YouTube. With chukwueze on the right, Kalu on the left, a good striker as no.9 together with iwobi or good AMD. Can even have both chukwueze and Kalu dovetail and switch around during the game to bring a dynamic fast attacking football from both wings and down the middle. That combination will be a nightmare for any team. Nigeria needs to be more aggressive in discovering talent and helping them blossom while they are still hot. We wait so long on the next step after u-17 that they start doubting themselves even attention cools off. Besides chukwueze is better than a lot of wingers currently in the team. I would seriously doubt rohrs pedigree if he doesn’t push to include him and goes with wingers not as good.

  • i can see nigeria is acursed. but God forbid’ may God forbid coach igboun abi agboun what ever they called him “IJN” AMEN… WHy didnt manu garba invite iheanacho, success, ndidi, c_nwakali for 2017 worldcup?? instead he searched osimhen, chukwueze, k_nwakali etc, and discovered their talents…this rubbish coach should also go and do thesame and leave chukwueze alone. u have jayden benett of watford nigeria eden hazard and even so many…this coach is so much dented intellectually.
