Chukwueze: Villarreal Can Secure Europa League Spot

Villarreal winger Samuel Chukuweze says the Yellow Submarine’s main target is to play in Europe next season, reports Completesports.com.

Jose Calleja’s men boosted their hopes of qualifying for next season’s Europa League following a hard-fought 1-0 win against Real Mallorca at the Estadio de la Ceramica on Tuesday.

The result lifted Villarreal two places to seventh on 44 points from 29 games, two behind sixth-placed Atletico Madrid who have a game in hand.

A darting run and cross from Chukwueze left Colombian Carlos Bacca with a simple tap-in from two metres at the far post in the 16th minute.

“This is just the start of the league, three months without playing, from now
we are just recovering from the pandemic, I think we played well, maybe next
game will be much better,” Chukwueze told La Liga TV.

“I feel so happy, more will come. We need to look forward because we want
to reach the Europa League.

“That is our dream and target, if we keep on playing like this we will reach
the Europa.”

Chukwueze has now scored three goals and recorded four assists in 28 league appearances for Villarreal this season.

Villarreal’s next match is against Granada at the Nuevo Los Cármenes stadium on Friday.
