LaLiga: Chukwueze Named Man-Of-The-Match In Villarreal’s Win Vs Mallorca

Samuel Chukuweze was named man-of-the-match following Villarreal’s hard-fought 1-0 home win against Real Mallorca at the Estadio de la Ceramica on Tuesday, reports Completesports.com.

Chukwueze, who featured for 90 minutes in the game provided the assist for Carlos Bacca’s goal in the 15th minute.

The Nigerian raced down the wing, getting away from a defender with a cheeky chip and crossed the ball to the second post where the Colombian made no mistake, guiding the ball into an open net.

    Great game by Samuel last night. He is indeed growing in confidence and reaping the fruits of an extra season with Villarreal. He just needs to keep the numbers increasing. But the question begs, how BEST can samu be utilized….as a starter or as an impact sub….??! For me, I’ll go with the latter.

      @Dr.Drey

      I would share similar thought with you; I think Samu is best as an impact Sub (more in the mode as the legend Kanu Nwankwo).

      That said, I think the problem of Samu’s game is not normally the timing but on his level of consistency.
      I feel the only person holding Samu back is himself. He could be full time player and I dare say, one of the best, if he just push himself more consistently.
      I feel Samu always take off his foot from the gas pedal too easily or he never ever always gets to the next gear consistently; mostly due to his final action and inactions.
      All Samu needs is to work on his consistency ,mostly , his final third contribution; cause he has everything to be one of the best in the game. He already has the number one thing you need;self belief.
      He is on the right path to do great things. He just need that inch.

      If he wants to be the best,then he has to learn to start and finish well in a game.Of course if he can go all the way for the super eagles,i don’t see why he can’t do same for Villarreal.He’s maturing and playing well for longer like he rightly did last night.
      I think as a very young lad shouldered with a huge responsibility of performing at a very high level,that alone could have taken a heavy toll on him.But now he has grown and can shoulder big responsibilities,my take is Sammu is good to start and finish a game so i would prefer he starts.

      I would go with him being a Starter If;

      He performs consistently like he played yesterday. If he can pick up the gear from there, there is no stopping him. There’s a level at which a player plays to the satisfaction of the Coach that you will be hard to substitute. Samu played that same way yesterday and he never showed any tiring look all through the 90mins. I can see he’s improving on a personal note. Taking a look back at matches like Nigeria Vs Burundi, Brazil Vs Nigeria, one can attest to the fact that He(Samuel) was even the one giving Coach Gernot Rohr this look of “Coachie I don tire abeg sub me”..lol and the Coach understood right well cuz from there he began to loose the ball more often. But going by Yesterday’s game, I’ll advise he picks up from there and being a Starter is guaranteed and also more effective

    Following up on prior comments, yes Samu needs consistency.  This is gained from showing this consistency in practice and then executing on the pitch which he can only get from valuable minutes.  A young player like himself also needs confidence from his coach and seeing his hardwork pay-off on the pitch.  Its not easy always looking over your shoulder thinking your next mistake will lead to being subbed off.  This is where I think Villareal have handled him well.  They recognize his game changing ability but also recognize his youth and inexperience and are patient with him.

    He has what it takes but its not going to be easy.  I’d like to see performances like yesterday also against teams higher up on the table

    the problem of some Africa players face is, when they make money, too much enjoyment and loosing focus because of wealth, Chukwueze is a good player no doubt but he need to work more than 120% to be best in the world

  • I believe Samuel chukwueze will improve. He has all it takes to be the best in Africa and one of the best in the world soon.
