LaLiga: Chukwueze Bags Assist In Villareal Win Vs Mallorca; Etebo Subbed On In Getafe’s Home Draw

Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze put up an outstanding display as he bagged an assist in Villareal’s 1-0 home win against visiting Mallorca in Tuesday’s LaLiga game, Completesports.com reports.

Chukwueze made the starting eleven and justified his coach’s decision as he set up Colombian striker Carlos Bacca for the goal on 16 minutes.

After receiving the ball Chukwueze skipped past his marker on the right side of Villareal’s attack, went on a mazy run before sending in a low cross which Bacca tapped into an empty net.

The game was Chukwueze’s 28th for Villareal so far in the current campaign.

Villareal have now won back-to-back games since the resumption of LaLiga after it was suspended because of coronavirus.

They now move up to seventh on 44 points just three points from fourth which is a Champions League spot.

And in another LaLiga game on Tuesday, Oghenekaro Etebo was in action for Getafe who were held to a 0-0 home draw by 10-man Espanyol.

Etebo who was named among the substitutes, was introduced for Cameroonian defender Allan Nyom on 46 minutes for his eight appearance since his loan move from Stoke City.

Espanyol were reduced to 10 men as early as the 16th minute after Bernardo was sent off for hitting a Getafe player in the face.

The draw means Getafe miss the chance to temporarily go fourth in the league table and are now fifth on 47 points.

It’s like the calls from several quarters that “Chukwueze should improve on his scoring abilities” is really getting to him (Chukwueze). The previous match his Goal bound shot saved by the Goalkeeper was rebounded into the net to give Villarreal the win. And in this particular match again (against Mallorca), All through the 90 mins he didn’t just dazzle the Mallorca defenders, you can see the hunger to score written all over his face. And the Goal that was later scored by Bacca was Goal-bound from Chukwueze. That would have been his goal but as a Striker Bacca is I think, he ensured he tapped in the ball to avoid any sought of drama. All the same, it was a good game for him. He is clearly back to his best. I hope he remains Consistent now

With wingers like Chukwueze, Ejuke, Kalu, Dennis, Simon and the up and coming Noah Bazee, the competition for a place in the Super Eagles is heating up. Never before in history have we had so many good wingers at the same time. Not even in the 1994 set, were we had three (Amunike, Finidi and Babangida). This is just one of the reasons why many believe our current squad has so much potential.

Rightly so @Pompei,the potentials from your post are glaring but compare to the three below in brackets, you will see that it’s not how many that matters but the quality and difference a few can make really matters.

I dont see much wingers as some of you guys are decieving your selves to have seen, at the moment we only have three trusted wingers namely musa, kalu, and chukwueze, hopefully ejuke may join soon if you are seeing moses and dennis as super wingers i see them as attachment wingers, pair moses and dennis against capeverde you will never see the world cup. I doubt if u could win lesotho if both of them where the only wingers, as one is a deffender in our current eagles and the other is a second striker they are not even close to garba lawal not to talk of the bignames you are compairing them to, there is one bobby akande if i am not mistaking his name that guy is another example of a superwinger, mankanjoula and onyekuru plus osayi samuel if they regain form they are considered as well. As for moses simon i have seen enough of him and i dont have hope he is just as normal as jamilu collins. For those of us thinking that iheanacho is this and that i am sorry to tell u the truth that guy his not and maynever be what you guys are hiping on him he is not a good striker he doesnt have a good footwork he can not do more than he has been doing as an attacker thats why he will be sold and i pray not to a lower division, iheanacho strenght is in his ability to shoot acurately and his quality passes i think he should move wild to either left or right and forget the burden of a striker he his not far from mahrez same wicked left foot and passes only that mahrez dribbles more and ihaanacho can easily add that ability to his games

Iheanacho is a prolific striker,i have not seen a complete striker going by the content of your post.He may not have the footwork of an Ighalo, but have qualities Ighalo can only dream of,the same applies to other strikers vice versa.
Moses Simon is a very resourceful winger many top African teams would love to have in their team. And mind you Simon is a regular with the super eagles.Any of Chukwueze,Kalu and Simon are currently ahead of others in the pecking order of wingers and anyone of them could possibly start games and by every standards are regular players of the super eagles.
Dennis Bonaventure is in great demand at the moment by a host of European teams. He’s sought-after,after having a remarkable season,so i would say he’s on the rise and requires just the next step up in his career to measure up with his more accomplished compatriots.

Collins ID, so Moses Simon and Emmanuel Dennis are not good wingers?
      I laugh in Kazakhstan.
Nantes that declared Moses to be their player of the year, you sabi football pass dem? Dennis that was a thorn in the flesh of big clubs like Real Madrid and Man United in recent games before COVID-19, scoring goals and running defenders ragged, na em you dey yab like this?
Honestly, it baffles me how some Nigerians are ever so ready to drag our players in the mud. I wonder what more you want Simon and Dennis to do to impress you. Maybe they should start scoring goals with their buttocks? At the moment, these two are performing very well. It is up to Rohr to decide who gets an invite. If they are invited, nobody can say they have not earned it!
As for Iheanacho, I have always felt the role he played in the U-17 was his best role. This number 9 role, he can play it, but it limits him. On the wings, he can deliver quality crosses, and especially on the right wing, he can cut in on his left foot and create chances or take shots. Whichever way you look at it, the guy needs to work hard. We have so many good wingers now, as I mentioned earlier. And if he wants to play top striker, he has to contend with the likes of Osimhen, Dessers, Sadiq, and others. If Ighalo comes back, it gets even tougher for him. There is no short cut. He has to improve his game.
Back to Simon and Dennis, instead of making uninformed comments, why not watch their next club games, and see wetin dey shele? Or you can even go to Youtube for highlights. There is no doubt about it – these guys are quality wingers/forwards.
