Manchester City are reportedly on the verge of confirming the signing of America de Quito midfielder Jose Cifuentes. The 20-year-old recently claimed that he would leave his homeland this summer to sign for either Celtic or City. It appears he has opted for the English champions over their Scottish counterparts with reports in Ecuador suggesting a deal is close to being completed.
Cifuentes has been away at the Under-20 World Cup with Ecuador this summer and is now free to negotiate the terms of his move. The report states that City will immediately loan the midfielder out to an unnamed Croatian club, likely to be Hajduk Split. If the deal goes through then he would become Pep Guardiola’s third signing of the summer after Rodri and Angelino.
