Collins Helps Paderborn Earn Away Draw; Dortmund Thrash Schalke As Bundesliga Returns

Super Eagles left-back Jamilu Collins was in action for struggling Paderborn who held Fortuna Dusseldorf to a 0-0 draw away, as the German Bundesliga returned on Saturday after it was suspended in March due to the coronavirus outbreak with all the matches played without spectators, Completesports.com reports.

Prior to the suspension of the league and going into the Saturday’s matchday 26 match, Paderborn had lost their last four games.

The game was Collins’ 22nd Bundesliga game for Paderborn who remain rooted at the bottom in the 18-team league.

In the Revier derby, Borussia Dortmund thrashed city rivals Schalke 4-0 at the Signal Idunna Park.

Goals from January signing Erling Braut Haaland  (29th minute), Thorgan Hazard  (49th minute) and a brace from Raphael Guerreiro (45th, 63rd minutes), secured the emphatic win for Dortmund.

The win took Dortmund to 54 points just a point behind leaders Bayern Munich on the log.

At the PreZero Arena, Hertha Berlin secured a 3-0 away win against Hoffenheim.

Hertha went 1-0 up in the 58th minute through an own goal by German-born Nigerian defender Kevin Akpoguma.

In the 60th minute, Vedad Ibisevic doubled Hertha’ s lead before Matheus Cunha made it 3-0 on the 74 minutes.

And in other fixtures, former Everton forward Ademola Lookman was brought on in the 46th minute as RB Leipzig played 1-1 at home to Freiburg while Augsburg lost 2-1 at home to Wolfsburg.

German-born Nigerian Noah Bazee was introduced with three minutes remaining in the game.
