Chukwueze Benched As Villareal End Winless Run In Copa del Rey Win

Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze was an unused substitute for Villareal as they were back to winning ways with a 5-0 away win of fourth-tier side Comillas, in the first round of the Copa del Rey on Wednesday night, Completesports.com reports.

A hat-trick from Colombian striker Carlos Bacca and a goal each from Leonardo Suarez and former Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla secured the comfortable win.

Prior to Wednesday’s Copa del Rey game, Villareal had failed to win their last six consecutive games, losing four and drawing two.

Suarez broke the deadlock for Viallreal when he struck in the 31st minute before Bacca doubled the lead on 34 minutes.

In the 75th minute, Bacca got his second goal while Cazorla made it 4-0 two minutes after the visitor’s third goal.

And in the 84th minute, Bacca completed his hat-trick to end the game 5-0.

In another Copa del Rey game on Tuesday, Ramon Azeez had an assist in Granada’s 3-2 extra-time comeback win.

While also on Tuesday, Chidozie Awaziem was in action and converted one of Leganes’ penalty kicks in their win in the Cup game.
