Cottagers Identify Mitrovic Replacement

Cottagers Identify Mitrovic Replacement

Fulham have identified Dwight Gayle as a possible replacement for Aleksandar Mitrovic, with the Serb set leave the club this summer.

It is widely expected that Mitrovic will leave Craven Cottage this summer following Fulham’s relegation from the Premier League, with the likes of West Ham and Crystal Palace reportedly showing an interest.

Fulham are believed to be seeking around £30million to part ways with Mitrovic and boss Scott Parker wants to use that money to reinvest in his squad.

One man that the Cottagers are believed to be interested in is Newcastle forward Gayle, who has a proven track record in the Championship, not least this season as he scored 24 goals while on loan at West Brom, although that was not enough to help the Baggies secure promotion.

Albion have now opted against making that move permanent, although he is still expected to leave Newcastle this summer and it appears Fulham have moved to the front of the queue.

Another player that has been linked with a move to the west Londoners this summer is Middlesbrough forward Britt Assombalonga.

The 26-year-old scored 14 goals in the Championship this season and Boro will want to recoup the £15million they spent to sign him from Nottingham Forest back in 2017.
