Could Kevin De Bruyne Be The Greatest Premier League Player Of All Time?

If the words of his former coach, Marc Wimots, are anything to go by one should keep a keen eye on Kevin De Bruyne when placing a bet whenever he is playing on the football field.

Playing from a Young Age 

De Bruyne’s years as a young child revolved around traveling and possessing a great passion for football. As a youngster, De Bruyne practiced his skills by playing in the garden of their home. Unfortunately, his parents reprimanded him play for destroying the home’s plants and he was told to play with his weaker foot. This became a fortunate occurrence as he learned how to become a sporadic dual-footed player.

His Career

De Bruyne started his calling at Genk where he played a big role in placing his team well on their way to claiming victory in the 2010–11 Belgian Pro League. During his four years with Genk, he was able to score as many as 17 goals and made 36 assists in 113 games.

In 2012, De Bruyne was afforded the opportunity to play for an enthusiast’s football favourite-Chelsea. However, he was used thriftily and was later commissioned to Werder Bremen.

As a whole, De Bruyne played nine games and recorded one goal for Chelsea.  Afterward, he spent a season at Werder Bremen where he played 34 games, managed to score ten goals, and delivered an additional 10 assists.

Following this, De Bruyne signed a contract with Wolfsburg for £18 million in 2014. There he was held as one of the finest players in the Bundesliga and was important in the club’s 2014–15 DFB-Pokal win. He was titled the best player in Bundesliga during the same season. During his time with Wolfsburg, he notched 20 goals and delivered 37 assists in 73 games.

In 2019–20, De Bruyne secured the record for the most assist plays in a Premier League season. He was given the title of the Premier’s League Player of the season. De bruyne managed to score 57 goals and has assisted 89 times in his 222 games for Manchester City.
