Currie Out Of Rhinos Clash

Warrington coach Steve Price has confirmed Ben Currie is making good progress but will not be ready for the opening clash with Leeds.

Currie is closing in on a return to fitness following a second serious knee injury and is back training with the rest of the Wire squad ahead of the new season.

The second rower is making good progress but Price says there is still a little bit of work to be done and the opening clash against the Rhinos on February 2 has come too soon.

“Ben Currie is doing really well. He’s progressing and is doing everything that’s required of him,” he said. “He’s taking part in our scrimmage sessions, but he certainly won’t be playing in round one.

“He’s got a few more boxes to tick. Once he does that he will be raring to go but he’s still a couple of weeks away as yet. “Benny Murdoch is a week-to-week proposition at the moment and Jack Johnson is still a fair way away.”
