All is now set for the Dambe Warriors Superfight, Season 2 billed for Sunday, 3 March, 2024.
At the press conference held on Friday, 1 March, 2024, organisers of the event disclosed that the much anticipated fights will hold at the Muri Okunola Park, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Three categories – lightweight, middleweight and heavyweight – will be contested for by six fighters.
The winners in the three categories will each go home with N1 million.
There is the promotional fights with the winners going home N500,000 and also qualification to Season 3.
Algeria’s Salim Zahreddine, a mix martial art fighter, will feature in Season 2.
Meanwhile Faze, a former member of the now defunct music group , Plantashun Boiz, will perform.
In an exclusive chat with Completesports.com, co-founder of Dambe Warriors Superfight, Anthony Okeleke said:“We are excited become the stakes are high, the prize money is high as ever seen before in dambe before. We have a foreign fighter from Algeria in season two.
“The city of Lagos is agog, people are calling asking what is happening, we are rejigging the entire entertainment sector from what people have seen before.
“Sport is what unites us as a country but dambe has a that new factor coming into play now different from football. No place you pack crowed of 2000, 3000 at any given time, dambe warriors is achieving that every two weeks in this country cumulating into the super fight we are having on March 3rd at Muri Okunola Park, Victoria Island.“
On plans to the next level, Okeleke added:“It is not an ambitious dream, you do the ground work just like what we are doing, built a league. Next stop the All African Games, next stop the Olympics and next it becomes dambe World Cup, imagine people all over the world coming to fight for a dambe World Cup.“
