Dangote To Renovate MKO Abiola Stadium Abuja

Billionaire businessman, Aliko Dangote, will renovate the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abuja, reports Completesports.com.

Minister of youth and sports development, Sunday Dare made the announcement in Abuja on Thursday.

The renovation works according to Dare will begin in two weeks time.

“Yes, Abuja is coming back up,” Dare told reporters in Abuja on Thursday.

“Already we have gotten Dangote, I can say that he has agreed to bring back the Abuja football pitch, the light and score board.

“Work will start in another one week or two weeks.

“And we will use the same model, we will adopt the pitch model for several of our stadia. Atleast, the three other big ones.

“We are looking at between now and March we should have four big stadia, football pitches, FIFA standard.

“And I think if given time, within a year this country should be ready to host virtually any FIFA soccer tournaments.”

I don’t put my faith in human because they are betrayers but this Mr. Dare I think his case may be different.

I’m having the feeling that the man wanted to work. I hope those people will not corrupt him in the end.

My advice to Mr. Dare, instead of spending billions of Nigeria to that Abuja stadium, why can’t you people spend the money to bring back our beloved stadium in Lagos?

The Surulere stadium is the home of the Super Eagles. If Dangote spend his entire money there to bring the stadium back, it won’t take longer to earn his money back.

Apart from that, the stadium will create so many opportunities for the citizens. The stadium will create job opportunities and brings the best out of the Super Eagles whenever they are playing in Surulere stadium because they know that winning is not negotiatiable in Lagos. They have to give their very best.

On the other hands, if they opted for the Abuja stadium, they never had full crowd in that stadium since it has bn opened and spending such amounts of money in there is not worth it.

It’s good to renovate the Abuja stadium but that shouldn’t have been the first agenda.

Dangote as a business man should have known this before the announcement of the project. They should do something that will bring money not something that will tie money down. That is a waste in business sector.

Our rich men in the Country should start using their money for our Country because they will get get their money back. Instead of using their money to build another Country economy, they should have a rethink and invest their money in their Country. This is a pure business if they know.

Abuja stadium should be second or even third in their roster while Surulere should stadium should be the first.

Like I said few days ago, God will send his own people to take Nigeria back. I hope this is true because I won’t be deceived by you people anymore.

Oh well, what do I know. It is well. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!

@Omo9ja, your comments most times are just baseless, annoying, partial and untrue. From your comment above, I can predict correctly that you stay in LAGOS and that’s why instead of you to commend the Sport Ministry and Dangote for this move, you’ve decided to talk them down because You wanted them to renovate the Stadium closer to you or the Stadium at your Doorstep. Oga, Abuja is the Federal Capital and if the Renovation will start, it starts from here(Abuja).

DISCLAIMER: Fans come out en-mass to watch Super Eagles matches at the Abuja National Stadium. @Omo9ja, have you ever been to the Abuja National Stadium?? am sure your answer is NO! So how do you get your statistics that people don’t come out to watch matches in Abuja Stadium?? The last match Super Eagles played at the Abuja Stadium was an AFCON qualifier against Sudan which we won 3-1 and I was at the Stadium Live that day. Despite the fact that Rain fell that Evening, The Stadium was filled to the brim. So filled that the Security personnels found it hard to control the crowd that day. And then our Super Eagles was a joke(Coached by the Late Keshi then) after 2014 WC. Yet, people came out en-mass to watch Super Eagles.

Just be sincere and sensible with your comment next time @Omo9ja. Not this kinda partial talk that they would have started with Surulere first because you want to see Gernot Rohr and his boys at your Doorstep..smh. The Minister even made it clear that they are still going to renovate the other ones yet you are saying all this stuffs..Na wa you oo

Every question has its own answer but not every question must be answered. This is for you Chairmanfemi.

The patriotic Nigerians knew that since the day one that Abuja stadium have bn opened shouldn’t have bn our national stadium but Surulere stadium.

Forget about Abuja have bn the capital. Since NFF decided moving the venue of Super Eagles everywhere, Eagles were not Super anymore.

What I said now may be strange to you because you may be toddler then we the Eagles were really Super but the intelligent ones knew that moving the national stadium to Abuja was a big mistake that NFF has ever made.

They should go ahead and renovate the Abuja stadium and sooner or later, they are going to abandon the stadium again.

The Abuja stadium had never bn fill up. Stop laying young man.

When did you started watching Super Eagles? Maybe early 2000 abi? Good. Go on YouTube and watch Nigeria/Ghana 2000 in Lagos and see the different.

The first ever Afcon hosted by Nigeria was in Lagos as well. The clips still on YouTube if you wasn’t born then Fęmi.

You are learning football without bn humble? Your response shows that you are a baby fans of the Super Eagles.

So, my son Fęmi, it is good to renovate Abuja stadium but I will advise NFF to make Lagos as the home of our Super Eagles again. No place like home.

Super Eagles belong to Lagos not Abuja because the heart of the country is in Lagos. If you know you know.

Learn from elder omo9ja because ęnu agba lobi ngbo. Don’t be disrespectful my son.

Happy Friday. God bless us all. God bless Nigeria!!!

Reading this news is just so heart-warming. I hope in two weeks time work will commence there truly. No Promise and Fail this time.

  • He is not renovating the entire stadium. He is renovating the pitch and the score board. How that has been edited out to give the impression that it is the entire  stadium beats me

“Many thanks to Dangote Industries and indeed Alhaji Aliko Dangote for partnering with the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development to restore the football pitch and score board of the Moshood Abiola National stadium. Our Adopt-A-Pitch Campaign program is on course.”
