Genk forward Cyriel Dessers is disappointed to be left out of Nigeria’s squad for this month’s 2022 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sierra Leone but is determined to make a return to the team.
Dessers made his debut for the three-time African champions in last month’s friendly against the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia.
The 25-year-old played the last 15 minutes of the game after replacing captain Ahmed Musa.

He was however overlooked by head coach Gernot Rohr for the double-header against the Leone Stars and will now have wait till 2021 to make his competitive debut for the West Africans.
Dessers has however vowed to keep working hard in order to regain his place in the team.
“It was nice to be on the score sheet again this weekend. I felt it’s been a long time coming for me and I hope to build on this goal in my subsequent matches,” the former Heracles Almelo striker told AOIFootball.
“On not getting a call up for the National team for games against Sierra Leone, personally I was not happy after knowing I did not make the cut. But then again, it shows I have to play more at club level and hopefully tries to always be at my best week in week out.”

Keep fighting and hope for the best Dessers. Futunately, you are a kind of striker Super Eagles needed now but unfortunately, Oga Rohr is not interested in you because you are not scoring goals in your new club side and are you not a tall player.
Does that make you a bad striker Dessers? We knew your qualities and until the gaffer have a changed of mind.
In two matches you already played for Nigeria, how many minutes you played? That shows that the coach is not interested in you that much.
Onuachu that the coach invited doesn’t fit in his team because of his tactics.
Even, Osimeh is going to face the the same thing because of our midfielders and wingers.
Nwakali is needed plus any of our strikers who are deadly in front of goal post. That means, Onuachu, Dessers, Maja and so on deserves more minutes than ever.
As a good coach, when you invite players, give them more minutes to prove their worth but in Oga Rohr case, 10 to 5 minutes is ok for any player to prove his worth. Sorry, we still have a long way to go as long as Oga Rohr stays in the office.
Club side football is totally different to national team football.
This is why I said like president Buhari like Oga Rohr. Meaning, Oga Buhari and his cabinets has nothing left to offer Nigerians except wearing Agbada kurukęrę everywhere in the country. They have failed Nigerians.
Oga Rohr is a typical president Buhari. Mr. Rohr is parading a gorgeous and sexy team without a tangible achievement.
So, 1 1 should be =2 but for them is =4
For we to enjoy a better Nigeria, we have to put an end to analog era.
We are in digital era which means that NFF and coach Rohr can not do it no more.
They have to be transparent and not bn biased. They have to take tribalism out of Nigerian sports and no room for injustice period.
However, let’s them bring in their goal machine Osimeh. We are watching you all very closely. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!

Well said Dessers, Work harder buddy and if you can regain the kind of form you displayed in the Dutch league then you will be recalled.
If playing week in week out is the criteria for callups then Musa has no bizness on the standby list let alone the main list. Just saying but the GR has the final say.
Thanks Dessers for your understanding, and more hard work to achieve the goal..
SE no be moi-moi..
With kalu and moses simon out of the qualifiers, who should start on the left side of the midfield. Should it be iwobi, ejuke or dennis?
Dr DREY will fill in for him
Keep your head up, young man. I see big things coming your way in the near future. You have what it takes to succeed. All that is needed now is humility, self belief, and HARD WORK.
I am betting on you to be a Nigeria success.
@omo9ja, u keep spitting garbage from your mouth every time i read your own view. Can i ask how many times have you watch this dresser of a player on your t.v live? U only watch youtube and conclude he is better. Not doubting the young man ability but stop condemning this man of a coach so you can move forward in life. Been 2 decade we play good football and now we are improving, yet all u do is critize. Ever coach an U10 before? If not go get yourself a chew gum instead of spoiling peoples work.
