Novak Djokovic defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas in straight sets to claim the Madrid Masters title on Sunday. The 31-year-old world number one went into the game having lost in his only other head-to-head against the young Greek in Toronto.
However, Djokovic never looked in danger on the clay in the Spanish capital as he needed just two breaks of serve to seal a 6-3 6-4 victory and move level with Rafael Nadal on 33 ATP Masters 1000 titles.

The Serbian will now look to continue his strong form going into the second Grand Slam of the year at the French Open, while Tsitsipas will also take comfort in the fact he knocked out ‘King of Clay’ and 11-time Roland Garros champion, Nadal, in Saturday’s semi-finals.
