Djokovic Seeking French Open Confidence Boost

Novak Djokovic hopes to land one of the clay court Masters 1000 titles before he bids to pick up a second French Open crown.

The French Open is the only Grand Slam event Djokovic has failed to win at least twice, with the Serb’s solitary success in Paris coming in 2016 when he overcame Andy Murray in the final.

Before Djokovic heads to the second major of the year, he will compete in Monte Carlo, Madrid, and Rome – and the world number one hopes to build some momentum by taking one of those Masters 1000 titles.

“It would be definitely better to approach Roland Garros with a win in one of the big three clay court events prior to the French Open,” he said, as reported by Tennis365.

“But at the same time I had great Roland Garros tournaments in the past where I maybe didn’t win any of the big ones before. “So, (it) doesn’t necessarily mean it’s going to affect completely my state of mind approaching Roland Garros, but it would definitely serve the confidence better if I have one coming into Paris.”
