Chelsea have announced the signing of England international Jordan Henderson.
The experienced midfielder moved to the Stamford Bridge on a free transfer after severing ties with Brentford.
Henderson signed a two-year contract with the Blues, and will join his new team-mates ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.

‘Given the size of the club, the manager, who I have great admiration for, and the quality of the players, this was a huge opportunity I couldn’t turn down,’ Henderson told the club’s official website.
‘I was also so impressed with how much the ownership want Chelsea to be successful and move in the right direction.
‘For me, it’s about giving everything every single day, both on and off the field, to help the players around me and the team as much as possible. I’m very excited to get going.’

Journey From Sunderland
Henderson, who started his career with hometown club Sunderland made his professional debut at Stamford Bridge against the Blues in November 2008 and, following a loan spell at Coventry City, he established himself in the Black Cats’ first team.
He featured 79 times for Sunderland – and made his England debut – before joining Liverpool in June 2011.
At Anfield, Henderson cemented himself as a first-team regular and leader in the squad. In June 2015, he was named men’s team captain following the departure of Steven Gerrard.
With Henderson as captain, Liverpool enjoyed a period of success. The Champions League was won in 2019 and a first Premier League title in 30 years was secured the following season.
Henderson also won the FA Cup, two League Cups, the Community Shield, the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup with Liverpool before signing for Saudi Pro League side Al-Ettifaq.
Spells with Ajax in the Netherlands and in west London with Brentford followed before Henderson’s switch to Stamford Bridge.
On the international stage, he has represented England 91 times and was part of squads that finished as runners-up at Euro 2020 and third at this summer’s World Cup.
