Super Falcons striker Gift Monday has completed a permanent move to Boston Legacy FC from Washington Spirit in a deal worth $500,000.
The 24-year-old Nigerian forward joins the Major League Soccer, MLS, outfit after making 48 regular-season appearances for Washington Spirit, scoring 12 goals and providing three assists.
Monday made history in NWSL in September 2025 when she scored the fastest hat-trick from kick-off in the league’s history. She netted three times in 35 minutes and 52 seconds against the Houston Dash.

Monday, who is currently on international duty with Nigeria for their 2028 Olympic Games qualifying fixture against Comoros, expressed her delight at joining her new club.

Boston Legacy Expect Big Things From Striker
Boston Legacy FC General Manager Domè Guasch expressed confidence in the Nigerian forward’s ability to strengthen the club’s attacking options.
“Gift brings a unique set of qualities as a forward that will add another dimension to our attack. She will contribute to our high press, create opportunities and be dangerous in the final third. She’s also a team player, and that matters to us as much as her quality on the pitch,” Guasch said.
From Nigeria To Spain And The United States
Monday began her professional career in Spain with UD Tenerife, where she made more than 65 appearances and recorded 26 goal contributions in nearly 4,500 minutes of action.
Before moving to Spain, the forward featured for Nigerian clubs FC Robo and COD United Amazons, gaining valuable experience that helped shape her professional career.
At international level, Monday made her senior debut for the Nigeria women’s national team in 2019. She was also included in Nigeria’s 23-player squad for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Her move to Boston Legacy FC represents another significant milestone in her career as she looks to build on her achievements in the United States and continue contributing to the Super Falcons.
