French Ligue 2 club Stade de Reims have completed the signing of promising Nigerian defender Godwin Itotomi from Grassrunners FC, Completesports.com reports.
The 18-year-old centre-back joined Les Rouges et Blancs on a season-long loan, with the French club retaining an option to make the move permanent.
Itotomi will initially link up with Stade de Reims’ youth setup, where he is expected to continue his development before pushing for a place in the reserve side and eventually the senior team.

The highly-rated defender earned the move after impressing during a successful trial with the club. His composed displays, defensive awareness and physical presence convinced the coaching staff to offer him a contract.
During the trial, Itotomi featured in friendly matches against European heavyweights Paris Saint-Germain, and Eintracht Frankfurt, producing assured performances that underlined his potential.
His impressive outings also earned him an opportunity to train and feature with the club’s reserve squad, further strengthening the belief that he has the qualities to progress through the ranks.
The move represents another significant step in the young defender’s career as he looks to establish himself in European football and continue the growing tradition of Nigerian talents making their mark in France.
