Super Falcons forward Joy Omewa has completed a move to Swedish champions BK Häcken, Completesports.com reports.
Omewa has signed a three-year contract with the Damallsvenskan side after joining on a free transfer following her departure from English Women’s Super League 2 outfit Nottingham Forest.
The 23-year-old becomes the second Nigerian at BK Häcken, linking up with experienced midfielder Halimatu Ayinde, who is already an established member of the squad.
The pacy forward earned widespread acclaim during her spell with Danish club Fortuna Hjørring, where she enjoyed a remarkable 2024/25 campaign. Omewa scored 22 league goals in 24 appearances to inspire the club to a domestic league and cup double.
Omewa Keen To impress At BK Häcken
Her impressive performances in Denmark paved the way for her move to Sweden, where she will be hoping to continue her fine goal scoring form.
Omewa described her time in Denmark as a pivotal period in her development, revealing that she focused on becoming a more clinical and effective striker, particularly inside and around the penalty area.

“I mainly developed my ability to score goals, especially positional play in the penalty area. I worked a lot on mastering how to be as efficient as possible inside the box,” she told the club’s official website.
Right Club For Development
Omewa said the decision to join BK Häcken was an easy one, describing the Swedish champions as the ideal club to continue her development and take her game to the next level.
” I know that BK Häcken is a fantastic club that helps its talents develop. I feel that this is the right place for me,” added the former Confluence Queens player.
Goals And Physicality
BK Häcken’s football director, Martin Ericsson, hailed Omewa’s qualities and expressed his excitement at welcoming the Nigerian forward to the club, saying he is confident she will make a significant impact.
” Joy is a physically dominant player with a lot of power, but also a striker who is involved in the game and a killer in the box. Her instinct for scoring goals is clear and she is always looking for the next opportunity,” Ericsson declared.

Omewa is currently part of Nigeria’s squad for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations , and will be aiming to help the Super Falcons retain their continental crown in Morocco.
