Du Preez Heads Home Early

Back-rower Jean-Luc du Preez stint at Sale has been brought to a premature end by injury. The South African international joined on a three-month deal in November as cover for the injured Tom Curry and played alongside his older brother fly-half Robert at the AJ Bell Stadium.

However, he picked up an unspecified injury in last weekend’s 30-15 win at Gloucester and is now heading back to South Africa with the hope of being fit in time for the Sharks’ Super Rugby campaign. He said: “It was an unbelievable time … They have one of the best team cultures I have had the pleasure of being involved with.

“They are an incredible bunch of lads, and I feel this is just the start for Sale.”
Du Preez’s injury meant he missed Sale’s impressive 24-18 win over Saracens on Friday. Both Sam James and Denny Solomona scored for the Sharks, while Du Preez kicked a conversion and four penalties.
