Nigeria winger Moses Simon scored the winning goal as Nantes recorded a hard fought 1-0 home win against OGC Nice in their French Ligue 1 clash at the Stade de la Beaujoire – Louis Fonteneau on Saturday night, Completesports.com reports.
Simon hit the back of the net four minutes from time to send the home fans into wild celebration.
It was Simon’s second goal in his eighth league appearance for the Christian Gourcuff’s Nantes.
The 24-year-old was replaced by Samuel Moutoussamy deep into stoppage time.
Also in France, Henry Onyekuru was not listed for action in Monaco’s 3-1 away defeat to Montpellier
Onyekuru has made four league appearances for Monaco but is yet to open his goal account for the season.
Still in France, Samuel Kalu was not included in the matchday squad in Girondis Bordeaux’s 3-1 away win at Toulouse.
Josh Maja was benched for the entire minutes by Bordeaux in the game.
In Germany, Jamilu Collins missed a penalty as Paderborn lost 2-1 at FSV Mainz.
Collins, who scored his first ever Bundesliga goal for Paderborn against Champions Bayern Munich last week, failed to convert from the spot 11 minutes from time.
U-23 Eagles forward, Taiwo Awoniyi was an unused substitute for Mainz in the game.
Moving on to Spain, Samuel Chukuweze saw action for 90 minutes but could do little to prevent Villarreal from losing 2-1 against Osasuna at the Estadio El Sadar (Pamplona Iruñea))
Ramon Azeez featured for 51 minutes in Granada’s 4-2 away defeat to Real Madrid.
