ECL: Dessers’ Brace Vs Slavia Prague Away Propels Feyenoord To First European Semi-final In 20 Years

Cyriel Dessers bagged a brace as Feyenoord defeated Slavia Prague 3-1 away and booked a place in the semi-finals of the Europa Conference League on Thursday night.

Feyenoord qualified for the semis 6-4 on aggregate after the first leg ended 3-3.

Also, they have reached their first European semi-final since 2002.

Dessers’ Nigerian compatriots Peter Olayinka and Collins Sor were in action for Slavia Prague.

Slavia Prague drew level on 14 minutes thanks to Ibrahim Traore but Dessers got his second on 59 minutes to make it 2-1 to Feyenoord.

Then with 12 minutes left Luis Sinisterra got Feyenoord’s third to seal the win.

Dessers and his Feyenoord teammates will take on Marseille in the semi-final while the second semi-final is between Leicester and Roma.

Cyril Dessers the most prolific goalscorer available to Super Eagles. Augustine Eguaveon with his band of trial and bribe-taking assistants that denied Dessers a spot in AFCON. See how the youngman continue to shame them.

I hope the crook Eguaveon has started watching him now? Maybe Eguaveon needs to NFF to book him a ticket to go watch Dessers more since he does not have cable TV as NFF Technical Director/Interim Coach.

Dessers may even be more clinical than Osimhen. Guy is an ice-cold killer.

Don’t worry they will prepare a first class ticket for him Wetin I Dey talk sef? They will prepare a private Jet for him to go to watch Dessers in Feyenoord Lmao!! See where failure with our own has led us?? I’m glad you’re feeling the pain. Lmao!! Even if Dessers was available to him, he still wouldn’t know how and when to use him. Like when it was a player who gingered him that Ghana had switched to a back 5 Lmao!! Well it’s going to be a new era goodbye to radarada!

Hahahahaha…but you were jubilating and praising him for bringing in your beloved “Wild card” players who weren’t even in the initial 40 man list ahead of the likes of Dessers…..LMAOooo.

I hope you are still enjoying failing with your own…..LMAOoo

Afterall failure with a black man is better than progress with a white man….LMAOoo

@Dr.Drey… It’s on record I blasted Eguaveon before we played in Kumasi. You can dig it up… Where he was saying Nigeria deserves the world cup ticket ahead of Ghana.

Eguaveon has never succeeded in coaching any team to qualify for a serious tournament, he was a choice of high-level-lobbying by Sports Minister. We failed in AFCON because they took money to include certain players like Onyekuru instead of Dessers.

Where you have Osimhen and Ighalo not going for a tournament and you pick Onyekuru instead of Dessers. Again when world cup playoff list came out, even Siasia said they have called up some people who shouldn’t be there. We saw the noise that Onazi inclusion generated.

We failed for WC playoffs from the list of players called up by Eguaveon and his paddy paddy assistants… Eguaveon should even be relieved from his role as technical director. What is he directing?

        • Dr. Drey 2 years ago

Congratulations once again for failing with your own….LMAOoo.

Im sure this failure with a black man is of better taste in your mouths than the steady successes y’all were enjoying under the white man…LMAOoo

“Let us fail with our own”……LMAOooo

      Hahahaha!
Jimbo, I dey hear dey laugh.
See where failure with OUR OWN has landed us?
I hope he still wishes to play for the SE.
Won’t blame him if he decides otherwise!

My brother, from the statistics there is no way such a player should have been left out my a sound Coach. Moreover he plays in the Europa or conference league. Like I have earlier posited only players who play in CAF or European champions or Europa or conference leagues should form the core of the Eagles. You cannot be bigger than ur Exposure. Moses Simon let us down when it matters most cos he has never played at the highest level. Always playing in relegation fighting teams. Let’s for all the craze for top five leagues. We have followed that paradigm for year’s yet no result. It’s time to change selection criteria. Only players playing CAF of European champions and other similar competitions should form the core if SE irrespective of the league

The Technical Director of Nigerian Football does not know who Cyriel Dessers is. He doesnt know the best goals per minute Nigerian footballer on the planet at the moment. What a Technical Director.

    Minutes played per goal ratio
    Dessers – 98 mins – (16 goals 6 assists this season)
    Ighalo – 112 mins – (23 goals 2 assists this season)
    Osimhen – 116 mins – (16 goals 5 assists this season)
    Onuachu – 131 mins – (21 goals 9 assists this season)
    Awoniyi – 143 mins – (17 goals 4 assists this season)
    Umar – 150 mins – (17 goals 10 assists this season)
    Iheanacho – 249 mins – (7 goals 9 assists this season)

Olodo coach and his fellow shoe shinners had prolific strikers like these in their pool yet failed woefully at both AFCON and World cup qualifiers. 3 consecutive games 0 goals scored from open play; thanks to their primitive antiquated table soccer tactics that cannot be changed in the middle of a match or tournament (according to the dumbest man to ever coach our national team), even when it is obvious to the son of Timaeus that its not working.

Cursed be the day Eguavoen was appointed the coach of the SE and cursed be all those who conspired to pour bile on the hearts of Nigerians by the vilifying out of his job a coach who was making life sweet and rosy for us and even keeping the same traitor NFF officials in their jobs by his meeting targets effortlessly.

Ngwa let them back themselves and their girlfriends into the business class seats of Qatar Airways and go and have another jamboree in Qatar as they used to have under Rohr na….LMAOooo

    • Omo9ja 2 years ago

Wow @Rez. You have said it all. Oga Rohr wasn’t the best likewise Eguavoen.

Funny enough, Oga Rohr followers still clamoring for the gaffer again. What a joke. It is well.

The new coach have no choice, Dessers must play for Nigeria. God bless Nigeria!!!

    • Ikeben 2 years ago

@Rex. Let us analyse with facts and good judgement. Rohr may not be the best coach but he was definitely Chunning out results. Saying that his success was because of certain players like Victor Moses or Mikel or Ighalo is very unintelligent. This is because every good coach will use the players at his disposal to get the desired result. Was he suppose to use Ronaldo or Messi or Salah. He will definitely use his players and got good results with them. Going by your submission we shouldn’t praise coaches like Klop or Pep because they have great players. But the conclusion that since these players left he has been having bad results is very wrong. Rohr played against a full house Brazil with Neymar, Jesus, Cutinho etc, without the likes of Mikel, Ighalo or Victor Moses. Brazil managed a draw, same with Ukraine. After 2019 Nations cup when these 3 players have retired he qualified for Another Nations cup and world cup playoffs leading each group and producing highest Goal scorers.
There was nothing like steady decline, NFF and media were just looking for ways to rubbish him.

Did we win every game in those qualifiers, no. But which country in the world actually wins every game in their qualifiers. Not more than 1 or 2 if at all. And if you analyse properly we won all our Away matches and had poor results in many home games. He spoke out about our chosen pitches but was ignored.

Talking about players and backup. It was obvious then, he gradually and carefully has created a best 22. Only that sometimes injury also happens to both first 11 and the backup as with our midfield.
Ekong, Balogun, backup Omeruo, Akpoguma. Bonke was backup to Ndidi. Aribo backup to Iwobi. Onyeka backup to Etebo. Ighalo was brought back to be backup to Osimhen and Sadiq as second backup.etc.
Then yes it is true that Rohr did not use Dessers much but remember he was been benched by Onuachu at that time. But he only revived his career this season and the Rohr we know will call him back since he has bounced back. He did same to Kelechi and other former bench warmers.

    • Ikeben 2 years ago

      To answer your question directly.
      Rohr first 11
      Okoye
      Aina, Balogun, Ekong, Sanusi
      Ndidi,Etebo,Iwobi,
      Chukwueze,Simon, Osimhen.

      Backup 11
      Uzoho
      Ebuehi,Akpoguma, Omeruo,Collins/Bassey
      Onyeka,Bonke,Aribo
      Ejuke,Ighalo/Kelechi,Henry/Musa/Lookman

We can still have a third 11 with likes of
Akpeyi, Shehu,Ajayi, Collins, Kalu, Sadiq, Onuachu, Agu, etc

    • Dr. Drey 2 years ago

Weldone Ikeben. I need say no more. Leave these failures let them all continue to look for whom to blame to their collosal failure LMAOooo. From Rohr, to foreign borns, to Issa Hayatou, to the players of Northern extraction in the team…..LMAOoo….who else have they not blamed…???

They will tell us if Victor Moses and Mikel Obi played in the 2019 and 2021 AFCON qualifiers where we qualified with games to spare, or in our 2022 WC qualifiers where were top of our group form the first minute of the entire qualifiers till the last.

We apparently stopped winning games, scoring goals and creating chances immediately the likes of Victor Moses, Mikel Obi, Echiejile and Ighalo retired from the national team…..LMAOOo…because Rohr couldnt find replacements for them…LMAOoo

So people didn’t have light in their villages when we went away to defeat Cape Verde RIGHT THERE ON THEIR TREACHEROUS HOMEGORUND with practically our 2nd XI

Rohr didnt have back ups indeed….LMAOOo.

The way some people lie in broad day light because of the hatred in their blood ey, even the devil will grow green with envy. The same Rohr that was accused by drunkards like Mobi Okparaku of playing too many players is the one that doesnt have back up…..LMAOOoo

Rohr was indeed responsible for Eguavoen’s inability to detect that Ghana had switched to a back 5 in the 2nd half in Abuja until a player had to go and notify him….LMAAOoo.

Rohr must also be the reason why a team that was producing top scorers back to back for years and in every assignment within his 6 year reign, could not get its CF to score goals anymore the moment their egua-dullard came in with his archaic table soccer tactics.

      Bunch of shameless people.

      AFCON…..calamity
      WCQ…..Disaster
Thanks to their bunch of black brained apprentice cobblers they call local coaches.

A big shame that a gem was rejected because of dirty politics. Who lost out in the end?

The Holy Book tells me that The Lord roared and asked Moses: “What are you holding in your hand?”

Moses quivered, answering in a low voice, “just a cane.”

And He commanded: “That will do. Strike the sea with it and save your people!”

And Moses did as he was commanded, and saved his people.

WE HAD THE CANE, BUT REFUSED TO USE IT, PREFERRING TO BE SWEPT OFF INTO NOTHINGNESS.

  • I totally agree with Omo Naija on this! How can Eguavoen and his fellow co-traveller Naija home-based coaches say they had not heard or watched Cyriel Kolawole Dessers, the most prolific Nigerian striker on goals per game ratio and goals per minute ratio this year at the moment! Any coach worth his salt has access to the internet and cable to monitor the performances of players, even if you cannot go and watch them play live. Also, racist policies like limiting the number of foreign-born players in the Super Eagles should be stopped forthwith as that will prevent Nigeria from using its best players and materials in prosecuting matches. Most of the foreign-born Nigerian players are very patriotic, if not they would not have opted tp play or represent Nigeria in international football, so enough of such nonsense suggestions from our football federation and so-called supporters. God bless you all. Thanks

Our own didn’t fail. His hands were tied on the imposition of certain players. Well Jimmy if you claim he is collecting bribes, definitely the oyinbo boys are culprit, it didn’t start with eguavoen, it simply means from your statement that coach Rohr has been collecting riba to field this boys who are just average. Lets give the local boys a chance, enough of calling all this below average players to the national team. They were the ones that failed us not the coaching crew or NFF. Are they not the ones playing everyday to justify there inclusion in the national team. For dessers, he chooses the days he wants to perform. Go watch the first leg. he did nothing

  • pompei 2 years ago

All those chances we missed against Ghana, Dessers would have taken one or two of them, perhaps more.
I no wan talk about the Osimhen bicycle kicks.
We had a world class striker who was practically begging to play for us. Look where we ended up, thanks to our incompetent coaches!
The non-invitation of Dessers is one of the reasons why I stopped supporting Rohr, having being a long time supporter of him in the past. I just could not understand the rational behind not inviting this guy, especially after his performance in the Tunisia friendly.
Hiring a high caliber coach like Blanc, Valverde or Cocu may yet make Nigeria still attractive to Dessers. But if we continue recycling mediocrity, I see Dessers staying away.

    • Chinenye 2 years ago

Did your Rohr use Dessers? Instead he opted for heavy duty Ighalo for Cape verde match? Both Eguavon and Rohr messed up with Dessers matter

A number of us were insulted here for clamouring for his invitations. Now people who defended Rohr for his exclusion are criticising Eguavon for similar decisions, nonsens!

  • Lol! We didn’t invite him when we had the chance, is it now that they want to reduce the number of players born abroad that they will call him? I doubt that. When we have lots of non existing, deserving home base players(I mean they deserve to be in the team but we don’t know them)

  • pompei 2 years ago

Let’s spare a moment for Rangers midfielder Scott Arfield.
The young man missed 2 of the easiest sitters you will ever see in football. The second miss was particularly embarrassing, as he found himself with the ball at his feet INSIDE THE 6 YARD BOX, and he contrived to hit the horizontal bar with the net wide open!
Brings to mind Aiyegbeni’s miss against South Korea in 2010, and Osimhen’s open net miss against CAR with no goalie in the post.
    Arfield my man, take heart!

  • Omo9ja 2 years ago

Keep making me proud Dessers. Coach Eguavoen and Oga Rohr intentionally omitted Dessers when we needed him most but God did not.

Both Oga Rohr and Mr. Eguavoen already been fired while Dessers still have a second chance to represent Nigeria.

Life is simple. You may be in power today but that is not the end of the world, such is life. The rest is now history. For sure, you Dessers will definitely make me proud one at the national team of Nigeria. Good luck to you Dessers. God bless Nigeria!!!

  • Chima E Samuels 2 years ago

Mike Emenalo should kindly come to the aid of our football. We need qualified people like this else a lot of talented players will suffer due to nepotism. Cyriel Dessers is one player majority of us glamoured for here before and after afcon yet the demons let by Pinnick somehow justified his sabotage, Rhor was also never a fan to this Gem. When we called for him some zombies here said he was a bench warmer. Even though we told them it was an impact strategy from the Feyer coach. A lot of ITK here are good at changing their mouth but we know them!

  • pompei 2 years ago

As I recall, some of us here vigorously campaigned for the inclusion of Dessers in the SE.
Even the much maligned Omo9ja was very vocal in his requests for Dessers. I may not agree with him most of the time, but I will give him credit for this.
For me, watching Dessers excel against a tough Tunisia side IN HIS DEBUT was a strong indicator to me that Dessers can perform on the international stage. I thought Rohr would encourage him by giving him more opportunities.
Who knows? Perhaps Rohr was inclined to give Dessers more playing time, but was influenced, perhaps even bullied to look elsewhere. After all, Dessers does not speak the BRIBERY LANGUAGE. He would not understand the officials and local coaches, their winking eyes, or their hand signals. They don’t need a player like that in the SE. They need someone who can come up with much needed “gifts” to satiate their sickening greed!
They need a player who speaks their language.
