Ecuador head coach Gustavo Alvaro says Thursday’s friendly against the Super Eagles of Nigeria will help his side test their readiness for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, reports Completesports.com.
The match will kick off at 8:30pm ET. on Thurday June 2 [1:30 am, Friday, June 3, Nigerian time] at the Red Bull Arena, Harrison, New Jersey.
La Tri are in Group A of 2022 FIFA World Cup along with hosts Qatar, Senegal and
Netherlands.
Alvaro’s side will start their preparation with a friendly against the Super Eagles at the Red Bull Arena, Harrison, New Jersey on Thursday night (Friday morning in Nigeria).

The 59-year-old highlighted the importance of the game and other friendlies.
“They allow us to rehearse, correct, play in a different way to give the players a run.”Alvaro was quoted by the official website of the Federacion Ecuatoriana de Futbol.
The gaffer also revealed what his team’s line-up will look like for the game and the upcoming friendlies against Mexico and Cape Verde.
“The team that will play against Nigeria will vary a lot from the one that plays against Mexico; and against Cape Verde it will be a mixture of both,”added Alvaro.
Alvaro also maintains that the euphoria of qualifying is already part of the past and that now the entire squad is focused on preparing for the World Cup.

“The right to be part of the list that goes to the World Cup must be earned and I told the players to transfer the responsibility of choosing to me and not be the ones who are excluded due to circumstances beyond their control.” the Argentine declared.
“We have a great commitment and
responsibility to represent the hopes of an entire country and we feel very proud of that”, emphasized the coach.”
